About The Laurels Care Home
The Laurels Care Home is a residential home in Attleborough, Norfolk. We support older people and younger adults with a wide range of needs, including people living with dementia, people with a learning disability or autism, people managing mental health conditions and people with a physical disability. We also offer respite stays for those who need care for a short period. Because the people who live here are so different from one another, we do not run a single routine and expect everyone to fit it. Some residents are sociable and like the busier parts of the house; others prefer their own room, their own television and their own hours. Support is agreed with each person, written down, and changed when it stops being right. For residents living with dementia, consistency does most of the work. Familiar staff, familiar surroundings and an unhurried pace prevent a great deal of distress. We ask families to tell us about the person's life, their working years, their interests and their dislikes, and we use that daily rather than filing it away. Respite guests are treated as residents for as long as they are here, with the same planning and the same welcome, so that a family carer can take a genuine break without worrying.
