About Wymeswold Manor
Wymeswold Manor is a residential care home near Loughborough in Leicestershire. We support older people who need help with daily living, including people living with dementia, and we take respite bookings for families needing a break or a period of extra support. We try to run the place the way a household runs. People wake in their own time, keep their own belongings around them, decide how the day goes and are not rushed through anything. Meals are meant to be enjoyed rather than endured, and visitors are welcome through the day without arranging it beforehand. Dementia care asks for consistency and a good memory for detail. Our staff learn which chair somebody prefers, which times of day are harder, what settles a person when they are anxious and which conversations they always enjoy. Very little of that appears in a document, but it is the substance of good care. Being in a Leicestershire village suits a lot of our residents, and we make use of the quiet and the outdoors while making sure nobody feels cut off from the people and places they know. The Care Quality Commission has not yet published an overall rating for us. We are glad to talk through how we staff the home, how we train people and how we handle concerns.
