About Marwood Residential Home
We are Marwood Residential Home, a care home in Loughborough, Leicestershire, supporting older people who need help with daily living and adults living with a physical disability. This is somebody's home first and a care setting second, and we try to keep that distinction real in how the day actually runs rather than only in how we describe it. People bring their own furniture, pictures and belongings, and keep as much of their own routine as they wish. Some enjoy company and the busier parts of the day, others prefer their own room and quiet, and nobody is expected to join in with anything simply because it appears on a calendar. Help with washing, dressing, medication and moving about is offered at the person's pace and as discreetly as possible, and for those with a physical disability we assist with mobility and transfers in a way that leaves as much control as we can with the individual. We also provide respite stays. A short planned stay gives a family carer a genuine break, or helps somebody rebuild confidence after a spell in hospital before returning home, and we prepare for those visits properly rather than treating them as filling a spare room. Our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us good overall. Relatives and friends are welcome here, and we would much rather hear a concern early than late.
