About Martins
We are a residential home in Ramsgate supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic people. The house is run as a household rather than a service. The people who live here have their own rooms and their own things, and they take part in deciding how the place works: what is cooked, when meals happen, what gets bought and where everyone goes at the weekend. That may sound a modest sort of choice, but for adults who have often had very little say in daily life it is the heart of what we are trying to do. Support is built around each person and what they want to be able to do. For some that means work, college or volunteering. For others it is about getting out regularly, keeping up with family, managing money with a hand from staff, learning to do more in the kitchen, or simply having people around who understand how they communicate and what unsettles them. Predictability counts for a great deal here, so we keep staffing as consistent as we can and try not to change arrangements without warning and explanation. Respite stays are available as well as longer places, which can give a family a planned break while the person stays somewhere settled and properly supported. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. If you are looking for a place for yourself or someone in your family, please come and visit and ask us anything.
