About Ashdene House
Ashdene House is a residential care home in Ramsgate, Kent, supporting adults with a learning disability or autism, people managing a mental health condition, and those with a physical disability. We also offer respite stays for people who need support for a shorter period or whose regular carer needs a break. Our starting point is that the people who live here are adults with their own opinions, preferences and ambitions. Our job is to support those, not to manage them. That means people choose how their day goes, what they eat, how their room looks and what they want to work towards. Some are keen to build skills around cooking, budgeting or travelling independently. Others want support to keep hold of the independence they already have. Both are proper goals and we take them equally seriously. Support is planned with each person rather than written about them, and we use whatever communication approach works best for the individual. We pay close attention to the things that cause stress and the things that help someone feel settled, and we build routines accordingly. We work alongside community mental health teams, learning disability services and local health professionals so that support is consistent. Families and advocates are welcome and their views matter. The Care Quality Commission most recently rated us good overall. If you would like to know more about living here or to arrange a visit, please get in touch with us.
