About Kingston House
We are Kingston House, a residential care home in Canterbury, Kent. We support adults living with dementia, adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, and we also offer respite stays for people who need care for a short period. We want this to be somebody's home rather than a setting they have been placed in. People have their own rooms and their own things, choose how they spend their days, and are supported to keep up with family, friends and the interests they had before they came to us. Where somebody wants to take on more for themselves, we work out the steps with them rather than deciding on their behalf. Everything here rests on knowing people properly. We take time to learn how each person communicates, what helps them feel settled and what tends to go wrong on a difficult day, and we pass that on carefully to new staff before they support anyone alone. Familiarity and predictability matter a great deal to the people we support, so we keep our team as consistent as we can. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We keep examining our own practice rather than assuming it stands on its own. If you are considering a home in the Canterbury area, please arrange to visit.
