About Kings Den
We are a residential care home in Gloucester supporting adults who have a learning disability or who are autistic. Most of the people who live with us are younger adults, and our whole approach is built around that. This is somewhere people live their own lives, not somewhere they wait. That means the ordinary things get taken seriously. People choose what they want to eat and help make it. They decide how their room looks. They go out to college, to work, to the gym, to see family, or to do whatever it is they actually enjoy, and we provide as much or as little support as that takes. Where someone wants to learn to do more for themselves, we build it in gradually rather than deciding on their behalf that something is beyond them. Communication is central to the work. We take the time to learn how each person tells us what they want, whether that is with words, with signs, with pictures or simply with the way they react to something. Support plans are written with the person and with the people who know them best, and they change as the person does. We work closely with families, social workers and health professionals, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. Our most recent CQC overall rating is good. Please do get in touch if you would like to visit.
