About Jendot
We are Jendot, a residential care home in Gloucester supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, and people managing a mental health condition. Our most recent CQC overall rating is outstanding. We are glad of that, although the thing we would rather be measured on is whether the people living here are getting the lives they actually want. This is a home rather than a placement. People choose how their rooms look, what goes on the shopping list, what they eat and how they spend their days. Where somebody wants to take on more for themselves, whether that means cooking, managing money, using transport or holding down a course or a job, we work at it with them patiently and we do not decide in advance what is beyond anybody. Communication sits at the centre of the work. We learn how each person tells us what they want, in whatever form that takes, and we make sure the whole staff team understands it rather than one or two people holding that knowledge. We work closely with families, social workers, community mental health teams and GPs so that support joins up properly. We offer respite stays as well as permanent places. Please contact us if you would like to come and meet the people who live here.

Will they support end of life care, so there is no move at the hardest time?
Ask the home. End of life care is not listed on the register. Ask the manager whether residents can remain in the home with hospice or district nurse support.
Can she bring her cat or dog?
Ask the home. The home has not told us its pet policy yet. Ask directly; some homes allow small pets in residents' rooms or welcome visiting dogs.

Ask the home. We do not know whether the home has rooms for couples. Ask about shared or adjoining rooms if this matters.
Will the council help pay, or is it self funded only?
Ask the home. The home has not told us which funding it accepts. Most homes take both council funded and self funded residents; ask about council rates and any top up.
Do they take younger adults as well as older people?
Ask the home. The register does not say which age groups the home supports. Ask the home.
Can I visit before deciding, and are there visiting hours?
Ask the home. Every home should welcome a visit. Call to arrange one, ideally at a mealtime or during an activity, and ask about visiting hours for family.
