About Brighton and Bethesda Home
We are Brighton and Hove Bethesda Home, a residential care home in Hove. We look after older people, including those living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Respite stays are available. We aim for something domestic rather than institutional. People bring their own furniture and pictures, keep their own habits, and decide for themselves how their day runs. What time you wake, where you eat, whether you want company or would rather sit quietly: those are your decisions and they stay that way. A great deal of what makes a day here good is quite unremarkable, and we would rather describe it plainly than make grand claims. For people living with dementia we work with the person as they are now. Knowing their history, recognising early what tends to unsettle them and having the patience to go at their pace prevents a lot of distress before it begins. Where somebody has a physical disability or a sight or hearing impairment, we give proper attention to access and communication, so those needs are met without fuss and do not come to dominate the day. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Relatives are welcome at any reasonable hour. Please ring us to arrange a visit.
