About Barford Court
Barford Court is a residential care home in Hove. We support older people and younger adults who need help with daily living, including people living with dementia and people with a physical disability. We also take respite bookings. We try to run the place the way a household runs rather than the way an institution does. People get up when they wake, eat what they actually like, keep their own furniture and photographs about them and carry on with the habits that make them feel themselves. Relatives are welcome without appointment, and we would far rather people dropped in than waited for a visiting slot. Supporting somebody living with dementia asks for patience and a good memory for detail. Our staff learn the small things: the favoured chair, the songs that settle somebody, the hours of the day that are harder, the stories worth hearing again. None of that appears in a care plan, but it is what separates a home that works from one that merely functions. Being near the sea matters to a good many of our residents and we make use of it. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. If you are looking at residential or respite care in Hove, please arrange to visit and we will show you round properly.
