About Pier View House
Pier View House is a residential care home in Brighton supporting adults living with a learning disability or autism, including younger adults, and we also offer respite stays for people who usually live at home with family. This is a home rather than a placement. The people who live here have their own rooms and belongings, a genuine say in how the house is run, and support with whatever they find harder, whether that is personal care, communication, medication, managing money or getting out and about. We are careful to help without taking over, because independence only grows when someone is given room to do the parts they can manage, even when that takes longer. Support is planned with each person rather than written about them, and reviewed honestly when things change. We give as much thought to what makes a good week as we do to care tasks, so college, work, friendships, hobbies, faith and time with family all count here. Brighton has a great deal to offer and we would far rather people were out using local shops, cafes, groups and the seafront than sitting indoors. Respite guests are properly welcomed, and we take time to learn how someone likes things done before they arrive so a short stay feels familiar from the first day.
