About Willowbeech

Willowbeech is a residential care home in Bournemouth supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, most of them younger adults. We also offer respite stays. We are a house with a small number of people living in it, and everything follows from that. People have their own space and their own routines and a genuine say in how the place runs. What we are trying to achieve is not a smoothly run home for its own sake. It is that the people living here get on with the things they actually want to do, whether that is a job, a college course, seeing friends, managing their own money or going out without someone alongside them. Getting there means knowing people properly. How somebody communicates when they are anxious and words are harder to reach. What their sensory needs are. Which parts of a week are reliably difficult and what genuinely helps when a day starts to go wrong. We write that down clearly and we write support plans with the person, in language that is theirs rather than ours. Respite stays are arranged with visits beforehand so that arriving is familiar. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
