About April Court
April Court is a residential care home in Bournemouth. We support older people needing help with daily living, including those living with dementia, adults who have a learning disability, autistic adults, people living with mental health conditions, people with a physical disability and people whose sight or hearing is impaired. We also support some younger adults. That is a wide range of needs, and what holds it together is planning around the individual rather than a house routine everybody has to fit. We find out how somebody likes their day to run, what they eat, whether they want company or quiet and who we should ring when something happens, and we treat that as the substance of the care rather than as paperwork. For residents living with dementia we keep the day predictable and the faces familiar. Where sight or hearing is impaired we keep belongings where they are expected and check we have been understood. For the autistic people we support, notice of change and attention to noise and busyness matter most. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole are welcome to visit.
