About Talbot Woods Lodge
We are Talbot Woods Lodge, a residential care home in Bournemouth supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, and people with a physical disability or a visual or hearing impairment. This is somewhere people live rather than somewhere they are placed. That distinction shapes everything. People choose how their rooms look, what goes on the shopping list, what they eat and how they spend their time. Where someone wants to do more for themselves, whether that is cooking, managing money or travelling independently, we work at it with them steadily rather than deciding in advance what they can manage. Life here reaches well beyond the front door. People go to college, to work and to activities they have chosen, they see family and friends, and they take holidays. Our job is to provide whatever support makes those things possible, and no more than that. Communication is at the centre of the work. We learn how each person tells us what they want, in whatever form that takes, and we make sure that knowledge is shared properly with every member of staff rather than held by one or two people. We work closely with families, social workers and health professionals, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. Our most recent CQC overall rating is good. If you would like to visit and meet the people who live here, please get in touch.
