About Clifton House
Clifton House is a residential care home in Bournemouth. We support adults living with mental health conditions, and we offer respite stays as well as longer term places. Our approach is recovery focused. That means we assume people can move forward, and we build support around what someone wants their life to look like rather than around managing them. For some residents that is a return to independent living. For others it is stability, routine and a place that feels like theirs for as long as they need it. Both are entirely valid, and we do not push anyone towards one or the other. Day to day, staff are available but not intrusive. People come and go, cook for themselves if they want to, keep their own medication where it is safe to do so, and take part in the running of the house. We hold regular residents meetings and we act on what comes out of them. We work closely with community mental health teams, care coordinators, GPs and, where people want it, with families. Consistency between us and those teams matters enormously, so we keep in regular contact rather than only at review points. Respite here is genuinely planned. People visit beforehand, meet staff and see their room, so arriving is not a shock. The Care Quality Commission rated us good overall most recently. You are welcome to come and see the house for yourself.
