About The Oaks Care Home
We are a nursing home in Blyth, caring for people who need qualified nursing support alongside help with the everyday parts of life. Nurses are available at any hour, which means a change in somebody's condition can be noticed and acted on early. Most of the people who live here are older. We support people living with dementia, where familiar staff and unhurried time matter more than any particular method, and we try to build the day around the person rather than around a schedule. Respite stays are available as well, whether for a family carer who needs a genuine break or for somebody recovering after illness or a spell in hospital. We would rather be straightforward about inspection than leave it unsaid. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. That is not where we want to be and we will not dress it up. Particular shortcomings were identified, work is under way on them, and the honest position is that we are partway rather than finished. So please do come and see the home. Look round, talk to residents and to staff, and ask us directly what was found and what has changed since. That is the only reliable way to judge somewhere for someone you care about.
