About St Michaels Court

St Michaels Court is a nursing home in Norwich. We support older people and younger adults who need nursing care, including many living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. We also offer respite stays. Having registered nurses as part of the team means we can look after people whose health needs are genuinely complex without them having to move on as those needs change. That continuity is worth a great deal. Repeated moves are hard on anybody, and hardest of all on somebody living with dementia, for whom familiar faces and familiar surroundings are doing real work. The clinical side is only part of a day here, and usually the smaller part. The rest is ordinary life: meals worth eating, help that arrives without a long wait, privacy when it is wanted, company when it is not, and being treated as somebody with a history rather than as a list of conditions. Nursing can easily crowd that out, and we try not to let it. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We would rather a relative told us about a problem this week than mentioned it somewhere else next month, and we try to make that an easy thing to do.
