About Howson Care Centre
Howson Care Centre provides nursing and residential care in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. We look after older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, autistic adults and people with a learning disability, and adults managing mental ill health. We also take respite bookings. Having qualified nurses on duty at all hours means we can care for people with substantial health needs on site, and usually manage a period of illness here rather than through repeated hospital admissions. Our care staff work alongside the nursing team and know the people living here well enough to notice when somebody is not their usual self. Supporting this range of needs takes plans built around individuals rather than categories. We spend proper time getting to know somebody, write down what genuinely helps and what does not, and review it honestly as things change. We would rather be straight with you about our regulator than leave you to find it elsewhere. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission found that we require improvement overall. We took the findings seriously, there is an action plan we are working through with the whole team, and we will talk any family through exactly what was raised, what has changed and what is still in progress. Visitors are welcome at any reasonable hour, and we would much rather hear a concern the day it arises.
