About Ferndene Care Home
Ferndene Care Home is a nursing home in Gainsborough. We care for older people who need nursing support, including those living with dementia, and we also support some younger adults. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Registered nurses are on site throughout the day and night, which means clinical needs are met here rather than elsewhere. Wound care, catheters, diabetes, pain relief and the gradual changes that come with frailty are handled by people who know the person, in surroundings they know. That spares a great deal of upheaval and means families can ring and speak to somebody who can actually tell them how the day has gone. Most of good nursing care is unglamorous and depends on reliability. Pressure care attended to on time. Mouth care not skipped. Someone sitting with a person who is frightened at three in the morning. The rest of the job is making sure there is a life here and not only care. Residents choose their routines and their rooms are their own. With dementia we keep the surroundings calm and familiar, keep staffing as consistent as we can, and look for what lies behind distress rather than simply settling it. Respite stays suit people needing nursing input for a short period and family carers who need a real break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and see Ferndene for yourself and ask us anything.
