About Swansea Terrace
Swansea Terrace is a nursing home in Preston. We care for older people whose health needs go beyond residential care, for younger adults living with conditions that require qualified nursing, and for people with physical disabilities. Respite stays are available as well. Registered nurses are on duty here at all hours. Medication is managed closely, wound care, catheter care and conditions that vary from week to week are handled on site, and a change in a resident's health is usually noticed early because the person noticing knows them. We work with GPs, district nurses, therapists and hospital teams, and we press on a resident's behalf when something is slow to arrive. Dementia care is a large part of our work, and we approach it as caring for a person with a history rather than managing a condition. Families hold most of that history and we ask for it early, because it is what allows us to understand distress somebody cannot put into words. We should be open about where we stand. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We have worked through the findings with our team, and those areas are where our effort is concentrated at present. We would far rather tell you ourselves than have you discover it elsewhere, and we are glad to discuss the detail. Anyone considering Swansea Terrace is welcome to visit on an ordinary working day and see the place as it really is.
