About 8 Hainsworth Park
8 Hainsworth Park in Hull provides nursing care for adults living with mental health conditions, including people affected by eating disorders, and we work with younger adults as well as older people. This is specialist work, and it depends on a combination that is harder to hold together than it sounds. Proper clinical care on one side, and on the other a place where somebody can be unwell without being treated as a problem. Our nursing team attends to medication, physical health and the clinical risks that come with the conditions we support, and we work closely with community mental health teams, GPs and specialist services involved in a person's care. Supporting someone with an eating disorder in particular asks for consistency, patience and a complete absence of drama around food and around progress. Recovery is rarely a straight line, and the periods that go backwards are part of it. What helps is staff who stay steady, who know what a difficult phase looks like for that particular person, and who keep treating them as an adult with a life beyond their diagnosis. Respite stays are available. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and have not yet been given an overall rating. We welcome enquiries from families and from professionals.
