About Care Centre
Maidstone Care Centre is a nursing home in Maidstone, with qualified nurses on duty at all times. We care for older people whose health needs require nursing, including many people living with dementia, and we also offer respite stays. Our everyday work is the careful, unglamorous business of keeping people comfortable and well: medicines given properly, skin and mobility watched, eating and drinking encouraged and recorded, pain noticed and treated, and GPs and community teams involved early rather than late. Alongside that we try to protect the ordinary parts of life, so people keep their own routines and belongings, choose where to spend the day, and eat food that suits their taste as well as their diet. We need to be straight with you about where we stand. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us requires improvement overall. We accepted what was found rather than contesting it. Since then we have put more into staffing and supervision, tightened how we manage medicines and records, and increased the checks senior staff make on the care actually given at the bedside rather than the care written down. The work is ongoing and we are not going to claim otherwise. We would rather tell families this ourselves and answer their questions openly. Anyone considering the home is welcome to visit, see how we are now, and ask us anything at all.
