About Ashley Gardens Care Centre
Ashley Gardens Care Centre is a nursing home in Maidstone, Kent. We care for older people who need registered nursing as well as help with daily life, and we also support younger adults whose health needs call for nursing care. A large part of our work is with people living with dementia. Having nurses on duty at every hour allows us to look after people whose needs are genuinely complex: medication, skin and pressure care, continence, nutrition and the steady monitoring that catches changes early. Where someone is approaching the end of their life, it means they can stay here, comfortable and among people who know them. Dementia asks for something other than clinical skill. It asks for a familiar rhythm to the day, surroundings that are easy to make sense of, and staff who go where the person is instead of correcting them. We learn about somebody's working life, their family and their habits, because that is what explains them to us later, when words begin to fail. We also try not to let the clinical side swallow the rest. Residents decide when they get up, what they eat, whether they join in and who visits. Respite and short stays are available, including recovery after hospital. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please ring to arrange a visit.
