About Chandlers Ford Care Home
Chandlers Ford Care Home is a nursing home in Eastleigh, supporting people from across Hampshire. We care for older people and younger adults who have nursing needs, and many of the people living with us are living with dementia. Because we are registered for nursing care, we have qualified nurses on site at all hours. That changes what is possible. Complex medication, wound care, careful attention to nutrition, pain and skin, and noticing early when somebody is becoming unwell can all be handled here rather than through a series of hospital admissions. For families who have spent months watching a relative go in and out of hospital, that stability is often the biggest relief. Nursing is the foundation but it is not the purpose. The purpose is that somebody gets to carry on being themselves while their health is looked after. So we protect privacy, we ask rather than assume, we make visitors welcome at awkward hours, and we try to make sure the day contains something other than care tasks. With dementia, we work on continuity. The same faces, a predictable rhythm and staff who know a person's history well enough to settle them when they are frightened. The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating. The most useful thing you can do is visit, speak to the nurses on duty and ask us how we handle the hard nights as well as the easy afternoons.
