About Mais House
Mais House is a nursing home in Bexhill on Sea, East Sussex. We care for older people whose health needs require qualified nursing, with nurses on duty here throughout the day and the night. We also take respite admissions, which matters for families who need a fortnight but cannot find a residential home able to manage the clinical side. Coming into a nursing home is rarely anybody's plan. It usually follows a fall, a hospital stay, or a slow year in which a husband or daughter realised they could not keep going. We try to meet people at that point with some tact. We do not ask a family to repeat their whole story to four different members of staff, and we do not pretend that the move is a happy occasion when it is a necessary one. The nursing itself is careful and unhurried. Medicines, wounds, pain, pressure care, eating and drinking well, and keeping a close enough eye on each person that a change is noticed early. Beyond that we are mostly interested in whether somebody is comfortable, whether they are bored, and whether they have seen the people they love this week. Bexhill is a quiet seaside town and the air off the Channel does people good, so we get residents outside whenever the weather is on our side. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Ring us and come and look round.
