- First assessment of the service
Safe
Staff were appropriately recruited and there were enough of them to support people at the times they wanted. Staff were trained in safeguarding and knew how to raise concerns. Risk assessments and support plans were completed for everyone receiving care. Staff who gave medicines had the correct training.
Effective
Staff received training to support people safely and had regular supervision with their manager. The service followed the principles of the Mental Capacity Act. People's dietary needs were managed with reference to their preferences and choice. The service worked with other professionals such as local authorities and district nurses.
Caring
People were treated as individuals, and staff respected their choices and preferences.
Responsive
Care plans were person-centred. They contained details about the person, their likes and dislikes, how they wanted to be supported and what they could do for themselves. A complaints process was in place, and there had been no complaints since the service started providing support.
Well-led
There was no registered manager at the time. The last manager had left in July 2018, and the current manager had been in post for seven weeks and had started the process to become registered. A quality assurance system was in place, with audits and checks to monitor standards. Checks were made on people using the service by telephone or in person.
