About Expect
Expect supports people in their own homes across Bootle and the wider Sefton area. Those we work with include older people, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, and people living with mental ill health. The principle we try to hold to is that the home belongs to the person and we are there because we have been asked. Support should help somebody do what they are trying to do with their life rather than quietly take charge of it. When a plan starts reading like a set of instructions for a person instead of a description of the help they want, something has gone wrong and we would rather notice it ourselves. In practice that means help with the things that are genuinely difficult, whether personal care, managing money, keeping a tenancy going, health appointments or dealing with officialdom, and deliberate restraint everywhere else. It also means staying with people through setbacks rather than treating a bad spell as a failure. Consistency of staff matters enormously, particularly for autistic adults and for people whose mental health fluctuates, so we build small teams around individuals and introduce new workers properly rather than sending whoever is free. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our most recent inspection. If you are looking into support in Sefton, get in touch and tell us what you are hoping for.
