About Ryedale Special Families
Ryedale Special Families provides care and support to people in their own homes in Pickering and across this part of North Yorkshire. We work with younger adults who have a learning disability, adults who are autistic, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Families are at the centre of what we do. Where somebody is supported at home by relatives, the whole household is affected, and support that ignores that rarely works for long. So we plan with the person first and with their family alongside them, and we make sure that what we offer actually relieves the pressure rather than adding to it. Support can include personal care, help with medication and meals, assistance around the home, and support to get out to activities, appointments and the things somebody enjoys. We also provide reliable breaks for family carers, which in a rural area can be genuinely hard to find. Our staff learn how each person communicates, including those who do not use speech, and we treat distress as something with a cause rather than as behaviour to be contained. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you would like to talk about support in the Ryedale area, please get in touch and we will be honest about what we can offer.
