Our visits range from a single short call each day through to several hours of support, arranged to fit the person's routine rather than our rota. Most of our work is with older people who want to carry on living at home and need a hand with the everyday business of getting through the day: washing and dressing, medication taken on time, a proper meal cooked, the shopping fetched, the laundry done, and getting out to appointments or into town with some company on the way. We support people living with dementia, where continuity is everything, so we keep the same familiar care workers with the same households wherever the rota allows. We also support people living with mental ill health, and some younger adults. This is a rural area, so we plan our rounds around geography as well as need, and if we are delayed we ring rather than leaving somebody waiting.
