About House
Knaresborough House provides care and support to people living in their own homes in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire. The people we support include older people who need help to carry on living independently, adults living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and younger adults who need support to live independently. Our work covers personal care given without rushing, prompting and support with medication, preparing meals, help with laundry, shopping and keeping the home in order, and support to get out to appointments or simply out for some company. Two things matter above all in this work. The first is sending the same carers to the same people, because being met by a familiar face is worth a great deal and is close to essential for somebody living with dementia. It is also the familiar carer who notices when a person is not themselves this week. The second is allowing enough time to do the job properly, since care given against a stopwatch is not really care, and hurrying an older person is neither dignified nor safe. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch if you would like to know more about the support we provide.
