About Visiting Angels and West
We are a home care agency covering Harrogate and the surrounding part of North Yorkshire, supporting people in their own homes so that life can carry on in familiar surroundings. For many of the people we visit, the point of our support is not the tasks themselves but what those tasks make possible: staying in the house they have lived in for years, keeping up with friends, and holding on to a routine that is genuinely their own. We work mainly with older people, and we also support younger adults who need help at home. Visits might involve help with washing and dressing, support with medication, preparing meals, keeping on top of the house, or simply company and someone to talk to. Quite often it is the last of those that people tell us they miss most. We put a lot of effort into continuity, because care at home works best when the person arriving already knows how you like your tea, which door sticks, and what sort of morning you are having. It also means we notice when something has changed and can raise it early. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We take that as encouragement rather than a conclusion, and we keep asking the people we support and their families what we could do better.
