About IntegraCare (Supported Living)

IntegraCare provides supported living to adults in Harrogate and across North Yorkshire, in their own homes. Most of the people we work with are younger adults with a learning disability, autistic adults and people with physical disabilities. Supported living is a different proposition from residential care. The tenancy is the person's own, the home is theirs, and support is brought in around the life they want rather than the other way round. That shapes everything we do. We talk about work and college, money and bills, cooking, shopping, travel, friendships and what somebody wants their week to look like. Practical help with personal care and health needs is there for those who want it, but a good deal of our work is the scaffolding that makes running your own household realistic. For autistic people and people with a learning disability, how support is delivered matters at least as much as what is delivered. Clear information, staff who stay the same, honest notice before anything changes and genuine choice about who comes into your home will head off most difficulties before they start. Where somebody is struggling, we look at what is being asked of them rather than treating the person as the problem. We also expect people to take on more over time, not less, and we plan for that from the beginning. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
