About ACAH
We provide care at home in Corby and the surrounding parts of Northamptonshire. Those we support include older adults, people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults. The people we support want very different things, so we start from what each of them wants their week to look like rather than from a standard package. A good deal of our work is practical: washing and dressing, medication, meals, shopping, laundry, keeping a household in order. The rest is harder to write into a plan. Noticing that somebody is not themselves. Sitting down for the last ten minutes rather than leaving early. Telling the office that something has changed. If we notice something concerning on a visit, we say so promptly to the person and, with their agreement, to their family. Waiting until the next review helps nobody. Medicines are recorded at each visit and we raise anything that looks wrong rather than assuming somebody else has spotted it. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We would rather hear about a problem this week than be congratulated in general terms.
