About Unicorn Healthcare Services

Unicorn Healthcare supports people in their own homes in Grimsby and across North East Lincolnshire. We visit older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, people with a learning disability or autism, people living with mental ill health, people with physical disabilities and people whose sight or hearing has changed. Care at home works when it is quietly reliable. Turning up when we said we would. Sending people the household already knows. Allowing enough time so that a visit is not a scramble. Writing down what actually happened so the next carer is not guessing. Those things sound unglamorous, but they are what families notice and what keeps somebody safe at home for longer. What we help with varies a great deal. For one person it is washing and dressing each morning. For another it is support to keep a tenancy and a routine going. For a third it is several calls a day while a family carer does the rest and needs to know we will be there. The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating. We would rather be plain about that than let it pass unmentioned. In the meantime we are happy to go through how we recruit, train and supervise our staff, how medication is handled and what we do when something goes wrong.
