About Rainbow Trust Children's Charity

We are Rainbow Trust Children's Charity, working with families in Liverpool and the borough of Knowsley. We provide support in the family home, including for children with learning disabilities, autistic children, children with a physical disability and children with a visual or hearing impairment. Supporting a family at home is different from supporting an individual, and it is worth being clear about that. When a child has complex needs, the whole household is affected. Parents are stretched, brothers and sisters can end up waiting their turn, and the practical demands of a day leave very little room for anything else. Our support is shaped around the family as a whole rather than around one person in it. What that looks like varies enormously, which is why we start by asking rather than offering. Some families need practical help. Some need somebody reliable so that a parent can give attention to another child, or go to an appointment, or simply stop for an hour. We aim for continuity, so that families are not repeatedly explaining themselves to somebody new, and we work alongside the other professionals involved. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and do not currently hold an overall rating.
