About Derby Court

We are Derby Court, a home care agency in Liverpool, in the borough of Knowsley. We support people in their own homes, working with older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, people managing a mental health condition, people with a physical disability or a sensory impairment, and people affected by eating disorders or by alcohol and drug misuse. That breadth means there is no standard arrangement to offer. We start by asking what an ordinary day looks like for the person, where it has become difficult and what they want to go on doing themselves, and we build from those answers rather than from a list of what we provide. Where somebody is living with an eating disorder, mealtimes can be the hardest part of a day and a carer who is clumsy about it makes things worse. We follow the plan in place with the person's clinical team rather than improvising, and we aim to be a steady presence rather than another source of pressure. We work alongside GPs, community teams and social workers, and we hold onto continuity of carers. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and have not yet been given an overall rating.
