What the inspectors found
A plain English summary of the Care Quality Commission inspection behind the current rating of Park Lodge. Report published 25 September 2018.
- 10 and 14 August 2018, with a further meeting with the acting manager on 17 August 2018. The visit was announced, with 48 hours notice.
Safe
Inspectors found that people were safe and had the support they needed. Staff were trained in safeguarding and there were enough staff to meet people's needs safely. Medicines were handled safely by trained staff.
Effective
Inspectors found that people's needs were met because staff had been trained and supported. Staff had an induction, training, supervision and appraisal. People were supported to see healthcare services when they needed them.
Caring
Inspectors found that staff had developed positive relationships with people. Staff treated people with respect and protected their privacy. People were involved in planning their care and support.
Responsive
Inspectors found that people were involved in planning their care and support. Staff knew people well. There was a complaints process, and complaints were responded to appropriately.
Well-led
Inspectors found that the service was not always well led. Quality monitoring systems had not been fully established in all areas. For example, medicine audits were not completed and not all medicine records were complete. There had been no registered manager since February 2018. A registered manager from another service in the organisation was acting as manager.
What people told the inspectors
The report says staff and people said the management was good and approachable. People also had regular house meetings where they could make decisions about how the service was run.
