About Estice

We are a home care agency in Exeter, supporting people in their own homes across the city and the surrounding parts of Devon. Those we visit include older adults, people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults. We are in somebody else's home, as a guest, and we try to behave accordingly. We knock and wait. We ask before moving anything. We put things back where they live. We do not rearrange a kitchen because it would suit the way we work. This sounds like etiquette and it is closer to the heart of the job than that: a person who feels their home has been taken over by their care has lost something real, even if every task was completed. Practically, we help with washing and dressing, medication, meals, shopping and keeping a household running, and we aim that help at what has actually become difficult. We have not yet been given an overall rating by the Care Quality Commission, and we would rather state that than let the silence do the talking. Families are welcome to ask how we recruit, train and check our carers, to meet the people who would be visiting, and to judge us on what they find week to week.
