About 360 CAMHS South West
We are 360 CAMHS South West, based in Exeter and working across Devon. We provide support in the community and in people's own homes for young people and younger adults living with mental ill health, and for autistic people and people with learning disabilities. This work asks for patience above all. The young people we support have often had a difficult time with services before they reach us, and trust is built slowly by people who keep showing up and do what they said they would. So we keep our teams small and consistent, we explain what is happening rather than talking over somebody's head, and we take the young person's own view of what would help as the starting point rather than a formality. Support is planned with the young person and with their family or carers where they want them involved, alongside the professionals already around them. It might mean regular time with somebody they trust, help getting to appointments, education or work, practical support at difficult points of the day, or help building the skills and confidence to manage more independently over time. For autistic young people, predictability and sensory comfort are not preferences but needs, and we plan support around that rather than expecting somebody to cope. We have not yet had an overall rating published by the Care Quality Commission. We prefer to say so ourselves, and we welcome close questions from families and professionals about how we work.
