A visit arranged for a realistic hour is worth more than one promised early and delivered late. A fair number of the people we see live some way from their nearest neighbour, which means our knock may be the only one that day, and we treat that as part of the job rather than a nicety. What we actually do is help with washing and dressing, medicines, meals, shopping, housework, appointments and getting out of the house. We try hard to keep the same workers going to the same households, because continuity matters most where somebody is isolated.
