We begin with what somebody wants their week to contain, what they can already manage, where they would like to become more independent and where they genuinely need another person alongside them. The support follows from that, rather than starting with a list of tasks and fitting the person in around it. In practice our staff help with cooking, shopping, money, appointments, travel, work and college, and with keeping up the relationships that matter, alongside personal care where it is needed. Communication is planned around each individual, because choice is only real when somebody is properly understood, and we take change at a pace people can manage rather than one that suits a review date. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and have not yet been given an overall rating. We say so plainly and welcome enquiries from people considering support, from families and from professionals.
