About Goyt Valley Carers

Goyt Valley Carers provides care at home for people in New Mills and the surrounding villages. This is hilly, scattered country, and we know that getting older or living with a disability here can mean long distances and few buses, so our work is aimed at keeping people part of their own community. For older people we help with washing and dressing, prompting and support with medication, meals and drinks, laundry, shopping and keeping the house comfortable, and we help people get out, whether that is to an appointment, to the shops or just for some air. We make time for the conversation that goes with it, because company is often the part that matters most. For people living with dementia we keep the same care workers visiting wherever we can, follow the routine the household already has and leave things where they belong. We support adults with mental health needs, where reliability and respect do most of the good, and people with a physical disability who need help to move safely. Where somebody has sight or hearing loss we adapt how we communicate. We also support younger adults. Our care workers are local and know the households they visit.
