About Helping Hands Swadlincote
Helping Hands Swadlincote supports people in their own homes across south Derbyshire and the Burton area. We work with older people, adults living with dementia, autistic adults and people with a learning disability, adults with physical disabilities, people with sight or hearing loss and younger adults. We begin with a proper conversation rather than an assessment form. What can somebody still manage, what has become difficult, what would they like their week to contain, and what would they rather we did not interfere with. Those answers become the plan, and we revisit it when things change instead of leaving it to go stale. Visits range from a short morning call through to several longer ones a day, and for some people live in support. The work covers washing and dressing, medication, meals, shopping, laundry and housework, help to get out to appointments or to see people, and proper company for anyone who might otherwise speak to nobody. Continuity is what people tell us matters most, so we keep the team going into a household small, plan rounds locally so calls run to time, and give notice when a familiar carer will be away. Our carers train before they work alone and are supervised in people's homes afterwards. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please ring if you would like to talk it through.
