We are Oakwood 24, a home care agency supporting adults in their own homes in the City of London and the surrounding area. We support older people and people living with dementia, people living with mental health conditions, and younger adults who need help with daily life. Depending on the person, that might mean personal care, support with medication, meals, housework and shopping, help getting out to appointments, or reliable company at a set time each day. Because we are guests in somebody's home, they set the terms. We ask how things are usually done and we do them that way rather than arriving with a system of our own. We agree the times that suit and we keep to them, since a late call is no small matter when somebody is waiting to get up or needs their tablets. Wherever we can we send the same small group of workers, because a familiar face is easier to let in and a worker who knows somebody notices sooner when they are unwell. We have not yet received an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission.
