About Hopscotch Asian Women's Centre
Hopscotch Asian Women's Centre provides care at home for people in Camden and the surrounding parts of London. We support older people, including many living with dementia, as well as people with a learning disability or autism, people with a physical disability, people with sight or hearing loss and people managing mental health conditions. Our work grew out of the needs of Asian women and families in this part of London, and that shapes how we go about things. We pay attention to language, to religion and diet, to family expectations and to the things that can make a mainstream arrangement feel uncomfortable or simply unusable. Being understood without having to explain yourself is a genuine part of good care, and for many of the people we visit it is the reason they came to us. Visits can cover personal care, help with medication, cooking, shopping and housework, getting out to appointments, or company for somebody who would otherwise see very few people in a week. We should be open about where we stand. The Care Quality Commission most recently judged that we require improvement overall. We have not tried to talk our way around that. We accepted the findings, we have a plan of work in place and we are progressing it with the inspectors and the local authority.
