About Shapes Domiciliary Service

Shapes supports people in their own homes in and around Poole. We work with younger adults, with people who have physical disabilities, and with adults who have a learning disability or are autistic. Our starting point is that the home belongs to the person and we are there because we are wanted, not because we run the place. So we look first at what somebody already manages and build support around the gaps. That might be personal care at the start and end of the day, help with medication, support to keep a household running, or somebody alongside a person while they get to work, college, an activity or an appointment. Where a person communicates differently we learn how before we start, whether that is signing, symbols or something particular to them. Getting that right at the beginning makes everything afterwards easier, and it is a matter of respect as much as practicality. For people with physical disabilities we think carefully about the practical detail, from moving safely to equipment that actually works in the house somebody lives in. We agree the plan with the person in a form they can follow, review it as life changes, and keep the same staff with the same people wherever we can.
