About Sunburst House

Sunburst House provides care and support to people in their own homes in Bournemouth and the surrounding area. We exist so that people who need help can stay where they are settled, surrounded by their own things, their own neighbours and their own routines. Most of the people we visit are older adults. We help with washing and dressing, with medication, with getting meals ready and eaten, and with the ordinary tasks that have quietly become harder. We also support people living with dementia, and here our approach is built on continuity. We try hard to send the same carers to the same homes, because someone who already knows where the cups are kept and which programme is not to be missed can do far more good in half an hour than a stranger can. Support is arranged around each person rather than sold as a package. Some people want a single morning call, others need several visits across the day, and we expect arrangements to change over time. We review them properly rather than letting them drift. Our carers are trained, checked and supervised, and we keep in touch with families so that they know how things are going. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our most recent inspection, which we take as confirmation that the basics are being done well and consistently.
