    • Care Home

Stamford House Care Home is a residential home in Rochdale. We are a permanent home to older people and to some younger adults, and we also offer respite stays for those needing care for a short period or whose family carer needs a break. Most of our residents need help with washing and dressing, moving about safely, medication given properly and on time, and meals worth looking forward to, with somebody nearby through the night. Many are living with dementia, and we let that shape the whole house rather than treating it as a separate wing. The day follows a recognisable pattern, familiar staff are around, people keep their own belongings and habits, and somebody who is anxious gets company and time rather than correction. We want to be honest with you about where we stand. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather set that out plainly than have you come across it elsewhere. We understand what the inspectors raised with us, we are working through it, and we will discuss any part of it with families, professionals and the people who live here. What we are working towards is a house that feels like a home, with food cooked on the premises and visitors welcome without appointment. Please come and see us and ask us anything.

    • Care Home

Oakland is a residential care home in Rochdale. We provide a home for older people, including many living with dementia, and we also support some younger adults and offer respite stays for shorter periods of care. We want this to feel like somewhere people live rather than somewhere people have been placed. Residents bring their own furniture and photographs, keep their own routines and decide how the day runs. Some are up early and want company and conversation straight away. Others want their own room, a newspaper and a quiet afternoon. Neither needs explaining to us, and we plan around the person rather than around what suits a rota. Supporting people living with dementia is a large part of what we do, and steadiness is what helps most. Familiar faces, routines that change only when there is a reason, patience when words are hard to find, and a real effort to understand what somebody means rather than what they managed to say. Families are closely involved because they often hold the history that makes sense of the present. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. It reflects reliable everyday practice, which is what most families are genuinely looking for. If you are considering a care home in Rochdale for someone close to you, you are welcome to visit, look round properly, meet our staff and residents and ask us whatever you need to know.

    • Care Home

Harelands House is a residential care home in Rochdale. We support older people who need daily care, including many people living with dementia, and we also support adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people with physical disabilities and younger adults. With such a mixed group living under one roof, a single routine would suit nobody, so we do not run one. We work out what each person wants their days to look like and fit around it. Some people want company and things happening through the week; others want their own space with help within reach. For those living with dementia we keep routines steady and allow plenty of time, because being hurried is distressing and achieves nothing. We also offer respite stays, which can give a family carer a genuine rest or support somebody recovering after a stay in hospital. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good. We took the findings seriously and we keep our own checks going in between, because standards are kept day by day rather than at inspection. If you are looking for a place for yourself or a relative, please come and visit. Seeing the house and meeting the people in it tells you far more than anything written down can.

    • Care Home

We at Fieldhouse Care Home are proud to offer dedicated residential and dementia care in the heart of Rochdale, providing a warm and supportive home for older people across our community in the North West. Nestled within the familiar surroundings of Rochdale in the OL postcode area, our home offers residents the comfort of staying close to family, friends, and the local landmarks they know and love. Our setting has been thoughtfully arranged to feel welcoming and homely, with communal spaces where residents can socialise, quieter corners for reflection, and private rooms that residents can personalise to suit their own tastes and memories. Being part of the Rochdale community matters deeply to us, and we encourage loved ones to visit often and remain an active part of daily life here. Our specialisms in older person care, residential care, and dementia care mean that we are well placed to support a wide range of needs. For residents living with dementia, our team takes time to understand each person's life story, preferences, and routines, helping to create a calm and predictable environment where individuals feel safe and respected. For those seeking residential care, we focus on companionship, dignity, and gentle encouragement to enjoy the activities and pastimes that bring genuine pleasure. Families can take comfort in knowing that care plans are tailored to the individual rather than applied as a one size approach, with the wellbeing of the whole person at the centre of everything we do. The Care Quality Commission has rated Fieldhouse Care Home as Good overall, following their most recent inspection in July 2025. We are also rated Good across every one of the five key domains: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led. For families, this consistent rating offers reassurance that our home meets the standards expected across every aspect of life here, from the kindness of our caring approach to the strength of our leadership and the responsiveness of our team to changing needs. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the questions, worries, and hopes that come with it. If you are exploring options for a loved one in Rochdale or the wider OL area, we warmly invite you to get in touch, ask the questions that matter most to you, and discover whether Fieldhouse Care Home could be the right next chapter. Our door is always open to families seeking honest conversations and compassionate care.

We are Your Care Matters Group, a residential care home in Rochdale. We support older people who need help with daily living, including people living with dementia, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment, and we also support younger adults whose care needs mean living at home is no longer workable. What we try to protect is ordinary life. People here keep their own routines as far as they possibly can, choose how they spend the day, keep their own belongings around them and see the people they want to see. Support with washing, dressing, medication and mobility is given discreetly and at the person's pace, because being helped should not mean being hurried. Where somebody has a sensory impairment we adapt how we communicate rather than expecting the person to adapt to us, and where somebody is living with dementia we work from what they can do and what they remember rather than what they have lost. We offer respite stays as well as longer term places, which gives family carers a planned break and gives the person staying a change of company and surroundings. We prepare for a short stay carefully so nobody arrives feeling like a stranger. Families are welcome here and we would far rather hear a concern early than have it go unsaid. If you are looking at care homes in Rochdale, please come and visit us, meet the team and ask us anything you want to know.

    • Care Home

We at The Willows are proud to offer a warm and welcoming residential care home in the heart of Rochdale, where compassionate support meets a genuine sense of belonging. Nestled within the wider Rochdale community in the North West, our home provides a comforting base for older people and younger adults who benefit from thoughtful, person centred residential care. Our setting within the OL postcode area places us close to the familiar surroundings, local amenities and community links that residents and their loved ones value. The environment has been designed with comfort and ease of movement in mind, offering communal areas where friendships can flourish alongside quieter spaces for reflection, reading or spending time with visiting family. Our aim is always to feel like a true home rather than a clinical setting, where daily life carries a gentle rhythm and residents are encouraged to continue enjoying the routines, hobbies and interests that matter most to them. The team at The Willows supports a broad range of needs, including older person care, dementia care, physical disability, and support for individuals living with visual or hearing impairment. We also welcome younger adults and offer respite care for families who need short term support, whether following a hospital stay, during a carer's holiday, or simply to trial life at the home before making a longer term decision. In practice, this breadth of specialism means that care is tailored to the individual rather than shaped around a single model. For someone living with dementia, this might mean familiar cues, calm routines and patient reassurance throughout the day. For a resident with a physical disability or sensory impairment, it means considered communication, respectful assistance and an environment adapted to promote independence and dignity. Families can take comfort in knowing that as needs evolve, our approach adapts alongside them. We understand that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and trust sits at the heart of that choice. The Willows has been rated Good by the Care Quality Commission across every domain assessed, including Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well led. This consistent recognition reflects a culture where residents feel secure, staff are supported to deliver effective care, kindness underpins daily interactions, individual needs are responded to thoughtfully, and leadership sets a clear standard for the whole team. For families weighing up their options, a fully Good rating offers reassurance that quality is embedded throughout the home rather than concentrated in a single area. Life at The Willows is shaped by the people who live here. We take time to learn about each resident's history, preferences and personality, so that support feels personal and meaningful. Whether it is a favourite meal, a treasured photograph on the wall, a preferred time to rise, or a well loved piece of music, these small details help transform a room into a home and a routine into a life well lived. We warmly encourage family involvement, keeping loved ones informed and welcomed as an essential part of each resident's world. If you are exploring residential care in Rochdale for a parent, partner or relative, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please get in touch to arrange a visit, ask questions or simply talk through what your family is looking for. At The Willows, we are ready to listen, to reassure, and to help you take the next step with confidence.

Passmonds House is a residential care home in Rochdale. We support older people and younger adults with a wide range of needs, including people living with dementia or a mental health condition, people with a physical disability, people with a visual or hearing impairment and people dealing with alcohol or drug misuse. We also take respite bookings. Because people arrive here by very different routes, we do not run the home to one pattern. Some residents need a good deal of hands on support through the day. Others mainly want a settled base, a bit of structure and somebody reliable to check in with. We work out which is which by asking, and we keep asking, because what somebody needs on arrival is rarely what they need a year later. People keep their own belongings around them, choose how the day goes and are not hurried through the parts that take longer than they once did. Families are welcome throughout the day and we would rather they came often and informally. We are used to supporting people whose needs do not fit neatly into one category, and we try to take each person as they come rather than as a label. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. If you are considering residential or respite care in Rochdale, please arrange to come and see us.

Marland Court is a care home in Rochdale. We provide residential care for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, and people recovering from an eating disorder. Respite stays are available. We would rather be straight with you from the start. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us as requires improvement. We are not going to write around that. The findings were taken seriously, there is an improvement plan we are working through, and if you come and see us you should ask directly what has changed and what is still outstanding. You will get a plain answer. What has not changed is how we believe people should be treated. This is their home. Residents choose how their rooms look, when they get up, what they do with the day and who comes to see them. The people living here have genuinely little in common in terms of what they need, so we plan care one person at a time rather than running one routine and hoping it stretches. Where the work is sensitive we go carefully and without judgement, because recovery rarely runs in a straight line. Genuine improvement comes from listening to residents and relatives and then acting rather than recording. That is where our attention sits.

Beechwood Lodge is a residential care home in Rochdale. We are a permanent home to older people, many of whom are living with dementia, and we also offer respite stays for those needing care for a short period or whose family carer needs a break. We help with the things that have become difficult: getting washed and dressed, moving about safely, medication given properly and on time, eating and drinking well, and having somebody nearby through the night. Where dementia is part of the picture it shapes the whole house rather than one wing of it. We keep the day recognisable, keep familiar staff around people, let residents hold on to their own belongings and habits, and sit with somebody who is upset instead of trying to talk them out of it. Food is cooked here and people are asked what they would like rather than told what there is. There is somewhere sociable to sit and somewhere quiet, the garden gets used when the weather allows, and families visit whenever they can and are welcome at mealtimes. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Choosing a care home is a hard thing to do, so please come and visit, more than once if that helps, and talk to whoever is on shift.

Garfield House is a residential care home in Rochdale. We are home to older people, including many living with dementia and people with physical disabilities, and we offer respite stays. Most of what makes a care home good happens quietly and every day. Food people actually want to eat. Being helped to the bathroom without waiting. Laundry that comes back. Knowing the name of whoever is on this evening. Somebody noticing that you have been quieter than usual. That is where we try to keep our attention rather than on anything that reads well at a distance. For residents with physical disabilities we plan the practical side around what somebody can still manage themselves rather than what is quickest for us, because independence given up for convenience is rarely handed back. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather write that here than have a family discover it elsewhere and wonder why we said nothing. We accept what was identified and we are working through it, and we will not pretend in a paragraph that it is all behind us. Anybody considering us should come without an appointment, talk to residents and relatives away from staff, and press us for specifics about what has changed and what has not yet.

We are a residential care home in Rochdale, providing a home for older people who need support with everyday life, including people living with dementia and people with physical disabilities. We also take respite bookings, whether planned ahead so a family carer can have a proper break or arranged more quickly when somebody needs care for a period. We try to run this as somebody's home rather than as an institution. People bring their own belongings and keep their own habits. Families come and go rather than visiting at set times, and we would much rather a son had a cup of tea in his mother's room than sat formally in a lounge. Help with washing, dressing, medication and getting about is there when it is needed, given in a way that does not chip away at anybody's dignity, and where somebody can still manage alone we leave them to it. Dementia asks particular things of a care home. Familiar faces, a day that does not change shape without warning, and staff who can tell the difference between somebody being difficult and somebody being frightened or in pain. That understanding only comes from knowing a person well, which is why keeping our team together matters so much to us. Families are welcome and we would always rather you came and saw the place for yourself. Please contact us and we will find a time for you to look round and meet some of the people who live here.

Brookfield House Care Home is in Rochdale, providing residential care for older people who can no longer manage comfortably on their own. We aim for the feel of a household rather than an institution, with people keeping their own routines, their own belongings and a genuine say in how the day goes. We support people living with dementia, where a steady and familiar routine is worth more than anything else we could offer, and people living with a physical disability, where good care is largely about practical independence and dignity rather than doing everything for somebody. Respite stays are available too, for people who need care for a short while after illness and for family carers who need a proper break. We plan short stays with the same attention as a permanent move, so nobody arrives feeling temporary. We have not yet received an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission. Until we do, the honest answer is that you should come and look at us. See whether people are up and occupied, whether mealtimes are sociable and whether the staff talk about the people here as individuals rather than as tasks. That will tell you more than any document could.

Here at Belvoir Care Home, we are proud to be a trusted part of the Rochdale community, offering a warm and welcoming environment where older people can feel genuinely at home. We provide residential care, dementia care and respite care for older adults, and we take real pride in getting to know each person who comes through our doors. Everyone who lives with us has their own story, their own routines and their own preferences, and we work hard to make sure those things are respected and celebrated every day. Whether someone moves in with us permanently or comes for a shorter respite stay, we want their time here to feel comfortable, safe and full of life. Our team genuinely care about the people they support. That might sound straightforward, but it shapes everything we do, from the way we help someone start their morning to the conversations we have over a cup of tea in the afternoon. We believe that good care is built on trust, consistency and taking the time to really listen. For those living with dementia, we understand how important it is to create an environment that feels familiar and calm. We work closely with residents and their families to understand what matters most to each individual, so that we can provide support that feels personal rather than clinical. We are delighted that our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us as Good, which reflects the commitment of our whole team to maintaining high standards across everything we do. If you are considering care for yourself or a loved one in the Rochdale area, we would love to hear from you. We are a residential care home in Rochdale, providing a home for older people who need support to get comfortably through the day. We try to keep the feel of a household rather than a facility, with people bringing their own belongings and keeping to their own rhythms where they can. We help with personal care, mobility, meals and medication, and we care for people living with dementia, where familiar staff and unhurried time do more good than any particular approach. Respite stays are available as well, whether to give a family carer a genuine break or to let someone try the home for a short period before any longer decision. We would rather be open about inspection than leave it unsaid. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We are not going to dress that up. We know which areas were found wanting, work is under way on them, and we would far rather you came, asked us directly what has changed and judged the place for yourself than took anything here on trust. • Care Home

Ashbourne is a residential care home in Rochdale providing a home for older people and for younger adults who need support with daily living, including people living with dementia. We offer permanent places and shorter respite stays. We run the home at the pace of the people in it. Breakfast happens when somebody wakes rather than when a trolley comes round, and the day takes the shape a person wants. The care covers help with washing and dressing, medication, meals cooked here, support with mobility, and somebody always around when a person needs them. For those living with dementia we keep the routine steady and the faces familiar, and we arrange the house so that it is easy to understand and to move about in. Our staff tend to stay with us, and that continuity does more to settle somebody than any particular method could. Families are welcome whenever they wish to come, and we would much rather hear a concern early than have it sit unspoken until it has grown. Our most recent rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please ring us if you would like to come and look round.

    • Care Home

Healey House is a residential care home in Rochdale. We support adults living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions and people with physical disabilities. Respite stays are available. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us outstanding overall. We are proud of it and careful with it, because a rating describes one particular week and everything that earned it has to carry on happening afterwards. What sits behind it is that we plan support one person at a time and mean it. The people living here have genuinely little in common in terms of what they need, and running one routine across all of them would suit nobody. So we spend our time on particulars: how somebody likes to be addressed, what they can do themselves and would rather we left alone, what makes a difficult day and what heads it off. Understanding how each person communicates is central, especially where speech is not the main route. What we learn is written down and shared so that everybody responds the same way, which keeps the house predictable, and a predictable house is one where people feel safe enough to try things. We also take complaints seriously. Most of what we have improved here started with somebody telling us plainly that something was not good enough.

    • Care Home

Newhey Manor is a residential care home in Rochdale. Those living here include older people, many living with dementia, and people managing mental health conditions. We support younger adults too, and respite stays are part of what we do. Our attention goes on ordinary comfort and on the parts of the day nobody inspects. Whether the food is worth finishing. How long a bell takes to answer at two in the morning. Whether the person helping you knows anything about you beyond your care plan. Whether anybody notices you have gone quiet for a couple of days. For residents living with dementia we keep the routine steady and the surroundings unchanged, and we ask relatives early for the history that makes a person's remarks comprehensible rather than confusing.

    • Care Home

Sunnyside Rest Home is in Rochdale. We provide residential care for older people and for younger adults who need support with everyday life, and caring for people living with dementia is a large part of what we do. We are not a nursing home, and it is worth being plain about that. What we offer is residential care: help with washing and dressing, medication given on time, meals cooked here, laundry done, and staff on duty through the night as well as the day. Doctors and district nurses come in when clinical care is needed. For most people that turns out to be the right level of support, because it removes the effort and the worry without removing the independence. Dementia care rests on consistency and on knowing the person. A familiar order to the day, the same faces turning up and surroundings that are easy to read will settle somebody more surely than any programme of activities. We take time to learn about a person's working life, family and habits, because that is what makes sense of things when words begin to fail. Beyond the help they need, residents run their own days, and visitors are welcome rather than merely tolerated. Respite and short stays are available. Please ring us if you would like to look round Sunnyside and talk things over.

    • Care Home

Barley View is a residential care home in Rochdale. We care for older people and younger adults, including residents living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. As a residential setting our work is daily life supported well, with community health professionals involved when someone needs them. What we aim for is a house where people are known rather than managed, which sounds obvious and takes discipline because the pressures of a rota pull the other way. It means unrushed help with washing and dressing, medication given reliably, food worth looking forward to and staff who notice when a resident is quieter than usual. For people living with dementia we keep the routine predictable and the faces familiar, and we ask relatives for the details of a life that no assessment captures. Where sight or hearing is poor we check aids are working and adapt how we communicate. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

Arranging and funding a dementia care home place in Rochdale

Dementia raises the bar for what counts as a good home. Kindness is necessary but not sufficient. What matters just as much is whether the building makes sense to a confused mind, whether the routine bends round the person, and whether the staff group is settled enough to notice a change early.

What the grades add up to here

One home on this list holds Outstanding and nine hold Good, meaning inspectors judged those safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led at the last visit. Six hold Requires Improvement and three have no published rating yet. A grade below Good is a reason to read rather than to reject, because a records failing is not the same as a safety failing, and a provider may have acted decisively since. Look at the date of each inspection too.

The building and the shape of a day

Ask how a resident finds their way about: contrasting doors and handrails, natural light, and somewhere safe to walk when restlessness sets in. Ask what the home does in the late afternoon, when agitation is common, and what is tried before medication is ever discussed. Ask whether a bedroom can be furnished from home and whether waking, bathing and mealtimes follow lifelong habits rather than the rota.

Training and familiar faces

Ask what dementia specific training carers have completed, who delivers it and how often it is refreshed. Ask how many staff cover the night and what they do when somebody is frightened in the small hours. Ask how long the current team has worked there, because recognising a face does more for a person with dementia than almost anything else a home can offer.

Choosing between dementia care homes in Rochdale

The assessment of needs

Any adult who appears to need care and support can ask for a free assessment, whatever their savings. It should record what the person can still manage, where support is required and how memory and understanding shape daily life, involving them as fully as possible. Where capacity to decide is in doubt, the choice must be made in their best interests with family consulted. Arrange it through Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council adult social care, and ask for a carer's assessment of your own if you have been providing the support.

Who pays for a placement

A financial assessment follows, comparing capital and income with national thresholds. Above the upper threshold the placement is self funded; below it the council contributes on a sliding calculation and the resident pays a share from income. Where health needs are substantial, continuing healthcare funding from the National Health Service may apply instead, and it is reasonable to ask for that to be considered. Request each calculation in writing.

Fees and what they include

Weekly fees differ between homes and between rooms, and homes staffed more heavily for dementia support often sit at the upper end of the local range. Ask for a written breakdown of what is covered and what is charged separately. Ask what happens to the fee if needs increase markedly, and how much notice precedes a rise.

Frequently asked questions about dementia care homes in Rochdale

How many dementia care homes are there in Rochdale?

Rochdale has 19 CQC registered care homes that are registered for dementia care, out of 36 CQC registered care homes in Rochdale: 1 Outstanding, 9 Good, 5 Requires improvement, 1 Inadequate, 3 not yet rated. Counts come from the CQC register and are kept up to date as ratings change.

Which dementia care homes in Rochdale were inspected most recently?

Newhey Manor Residential Care Home (3 August 2026), Healey House (12 June 2026) and Beechwood Lodge (2 December 2025) have the most recent CQC reports.

Which homes in Rochdale provide dementia care?

Nineteen residential care homes in Rochdale registered to support people living with dementia appear in this collection. Each has a profile on Care Assura showing its published rating and linking to the inspection report behind it. All are registered with the Care Quality Commission, the regulator for adult social care in England. Given the spread of grades on this list, reading the reports rather than the ratings alone is the sensible way to narrow it.

How does a dementia care home differ from a dementia nursing home?

A dementia care home provides accommodation and personal care with staff trained to support memory loss and the changes in behaviour that can accompany it. A dementia nursing home offers all of that and also has registered nurses on duty at every hour, so clinical care happens on site. The difference is written into each provider's registration and governs who may be admitted. Where swallowing difficulties, advanced frailty or complex medication are involved, a nursing registered home is usually the safer choice.

What should we ask when visiting a dementia care home in Rochdale?

Ask what dementia training staff receive and how regularly it is refreshed, and how many carers are on duty overnight. Ask what the home does when a resident becomes distressed or determined to leave, and what is tried before medication is considered. Ask whether familiar furniture and belongings can come along and whether personal routines are kept. Ask as well how families are told when something changes and how concerns are handled.

How do we arrange a care needs assessment in Rochdale?

Contact Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council and ask for an adult social care needs assessment. The request can come from the person themselves, from a relative or friend, or from a GP, memory service or hospital team. It is free and savings do not affect the right to be assessed. The written outcome records what support is required and becomes the basis for choosing a home and for any funding decision.

Can Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council fund a dementia care home placement?

It can, where the needs assessment shows residential dementia care is required and the financial assessment shows capital below the national upper threshold. Any contribution is worked out on a sliding scale, with the resident normally paying something from income. Where health needs are substantial, National Health Service continuing healthcare funding may apply instead and should be considered. Ask for the calculations in writing so they can be checked.

How far ahead should we start looking?

As early as a diagnosis allows, because dementia homes with good reputations fill quickly and a crisis leaves almost no choice. Looking early also lets the person visit and give a view while they are still able to weigh one home against another. A calm sequence is to request the assessment, shortlist a few homes and visit each more than once. If a hospital stay forces the timing, a short term placement can hold the position while the family looks properly.
