    • Care Home

Arden House is a residential care home in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. We provide a home for older people, including those living with dementia, people with a physical disability, people with sight or hearing loss and people managing mental health conditions. Respite stays are available for shorter periods. What we aim to offer is a settled, familiar place where people keep their own routines and their own things around them. We ask about preferences in detail, because how somebody likes their morning to go is not a small matter when it shapes the rest of their day. Residents decide how much company they want and how much time to themselves, and we try to make both genuinely possible rather than simply offering the choice on paper. We should be straightforward about where we stand. Our most recent overall judgement from the Care Quality Commission was that we require improvement. We accepted the findings rather than arguing with them, we have a plan of work in place and we are progressing it alongside colleagues in health and the local authority. Families deserve to hear that from us directly rather than discovering it later. If you are considering Arden House for someone you love, please come and visit. Look at the home properly, speak to our staff and the people living here, and ask us exactly what the concerns were and what we have changed since. Those are the right questions to put to any home, and we will answer them plainly rather than steering you towards a brochure.

    • Care Home

Homewood is a residential care home in Leamington Spa, offering older people and younger adults a comfortable place to live with support always close at hand. We try to keep the feel of a household rather than an institution, with days led by the people living them. Supporting residents living with dementia is a substantial part of our work. We approach it by learning who somebody is, keeping routines familiar and the day unhurried, giving notice before anything changes, and looking for the cause when a resident is unsettled rather than treating it as behaviour to be contained. Our team helps with personal care, medication, mobility and meals, and equally with the parts of the day that give it value: conversation, company for those who want it, quiet for those who do not, and time outdoors when the weather allows. Rooms are personalised and relatives are welcome whenever they can come. Respite stays are available for people needing care for a short period, which some families use as a break and others as a first step. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Good. If you are looking at care homes in this part of Warwickshire, please come and see us on an ordinary day.

    • Care Home

Albemarle Rest Home is a residential care home in Leamington Spa. We are home to older people who need support with daily life, including many living with dementia, and we welcome people for respite stays, whether to recover after illness or to give a family carer a proper break. We are small enough for everyone here to be known properly, and that shapes everything else. Our team notices when somebody eats less than usual, sleeps badly, seems low or becomes unsteady, and it gets acted on the same day rather than at a review in a month. Residents run their own days. When to get up, what to eat, whether to sit with others in the lounge or keep to their own room with their own things around them. Rooms hold people's own furniture and photographs, and nobody comes in without knocking. Visitors are welcome at any reasonable hour. For residents living with dementia, consistency helps more than anything else we can offer. We keep staffing settled, learn each person's history properly and use it to make sense of what they are telling us, and when somebody is distressed we look for the reason rather than trying to close it down. Health needs are managed alongside local GPs and community nurses. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please come and look round.

    • Care Home

Jubilee House Care Home is in Leamington Spa, providing residential care for older people from across Warwickshire, including many residents living with dementia. Respite stays are available too. What we are trying to run is a household rather than a facility. That means somebody can have a lie in, or a late supper, or a whole afternoon doing very little, without it being treated as a problem. Homes drift towards routines that suit the staffing rather than the residents, and pushing back against that drift is a piece of work we do every day rather than a policy we wrote once. For residents living with dementia, familiarity does most of the work that technique cannot. A day that runs in a recognisable order. Staff who do not change every few weeks. A room that looks like the person's own, with their own things in it. And a team that knows enough about somebody's life before they arrived to understand what they are really asking for. Leamington is a pleasant town to be out in and we make sure residents are, rather than watching it through a window. Respite stays give family carers a proper break and let people get to know us without committing to anything. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come at lunchtime on an ordinary day and see for yourself.

    • Care Home

Sycamores is a residential care home in Leamington Spa. We support older people and younger adults with a wide range of needs, including dementia, learning disability and autism, mental health conditions, physical disabilities and loss of sight or hearing. We offer respite stays alongside permanent places. Supporting people with such different needs under one roof depends on planning properly around the individual. Before somebody moves in we spend time learning how they like to live, what they manage for themselves, what they find difficult and what they want from us, and that becomes the plan rather than something written to a formula. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather say that openly than have anyone find it out later. We have gone through what the inspection identified, in particular how we plan, record and review care and how consistently our staff are supported to work, and we are happy to talk through the detail with anyone considering a place here. People here keep their own belongings, run their own routines as far as they can, and are supported to get out into Leamington and to keep up with family and friends. Where a person communicates differently, we learn how, and we make sure the whole team does the same. If you would like an honest conversation about where we are, please call and come and see us.

    • Care Home

We are Fourways, a residential care home in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. We support older people and younger adults, including those living with dementia, people with a mental health condition, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment, and we offer respite stays. With that range of needs in one home, support has to be planned person by person. We take time at the start to work out how somebody communicates, what they manage on their own, where they want help and what they would rather nobody did for them, and we change the plan when it stops describing reality. Where dementia and a sensory impairment occur together, which happens often, we check the simple explanation first. A hearing aid that is not working accounts for a great deal that would otherwise be recorded as confusion, and a room somebody cannot make sense of will unsettle anyone. Where a mental health condition is part of the picture, the same principles apply: consistency, staff who do not take a difficult day personally, and a routine that is there to lean on rather than to enforce. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

    • Care Home

Cherry Tree Lodge is a residential care home in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. The people living here include older people, many of them living with dementia, along with younger adults, people with a physical disability and people with sight or hearing loss. Respite stays are available. Because our residents need quite different things from us, support is planned with each person rather than run to a single pattern. People keep their own rooms, their own belongings and their own routines, and they decide how much of the day to spend in company and how much on their own. We ask about the small preferences in detail and expect our staff to follow them, since those details are most of what makes a place feel like home. For residents living with dementia, consistency helps more than anything. Familiar staff, routines that change only when there is a reason, and the patience to understand what somebody means when words have become unreliable. Where people have sight or hearing loss we take particular care over how we communicate, so that nobody is left out of what is going on around them. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We take it as evidence that the everyday work is being done properly and we keep looking at the detail. If you are considering a care home in this part of Warwickshire for someone close to you, you are welcome to visit, meet our staff and residents and ask us anything you like.

    • Care Home

Clarendon Manor is a residential care home in Leamington Spa. We care for older people who need help with daily living, including many people living with dementia, and we also support younger adults where we are confident we can meet their needs. Respite stays are part of what we do. The house runs on the idea that people have moved home rather than moved into a system. People get up when they wake, eat when they are hungry, keep their own furniture and photographs around them, and spend the day where they choose, in company or quietly on their own. Help with washing, dressing and getting about is given when it is wanted and as discreetly as we can manage. Dementia care here is mostly about steadiness. Familiar faces, a predictable rhythm to the day, and staff who know somebody's history well enough to understand what lies behind a difficult afternoon. We gather that history with families when a person arrives and keep adding to it, so the knowledge belongs to the home rather than leaving at the end of a shift. Meals are cooked on the premises and matter a great deal to how people feel. There is something going on most days for anyone who wants it, and no pressure on those who do not. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated the home good overall, and visitors are welcome at any reasonable time.

Arranging and funding a dementia care home place in Leamington Spa

The assessment that opens the process

Dementia changes what adequate support means over the course of a year or two, which is why the assessment at the start deserves as much attention as the choice of home. Warwickshire County Council is responsible for carrying out the care needs assessment and for arranging funded support where someone meets the eligibility criteria. The assessor will consider memory, orientation, personal care, mobility, medication and safety, and will put the conclusions in a written plan. Ask for that plan in full, because a home needs to understand the detail of someone's dementia, not simply the diagnosis, before it can say honestly whether it can meet the need.

Who pays, and what happens as needs grow

A financial assessment sits alongside the care assessment and settles who meets the fee. Below the national capital thresholds the council contributes, with the resident paying a share from income, and above them the placement is privately funded, though the council still owes information and advice. Dementia fees often rise as supervision increases, so ask how a home reviews its rate when needs change and how much notice it gives. Where health needs become the dominant factor there is a separate route to health funded care, and it is worth asking the assessor whether that route might eventually apply.

Choosing between dementia care homes in Leamington Spa

What the ratings do and do not settle

With nine providers to consider, seven rated Good and two at Requires Improvement, the published judgements give a useful starting order but they are not the whole answer. A home can hold a Good rating overall and still be a poor match for advanced dementia, while a home asked to improve may have fixed the specific failing the inspector named. Read the sections of the report that deal with safety and with responsive care, since those bear most directly on dementia. Then ask the manager what has changed since the visit and judge how precisely they answer.

What dementia care looks like in practice

Ask what proportion of staff have had dementia specific training and who leads that work inside the home. Find out how the building helps, with clear signage, familiar objects, somewhere safe to walk and daylight in the places residents spend their day. Ask how the home responds when someone becomes distressed or wants to leave, and listen for an answer about understanding the cause rather than managing the behaviour. It is also fair to ask how the home handles the legal side, including authorisations that permit someone to be kept safely in a place they cannot leave freely.

Making the visit count

Visit at a busy hour and watch how staff approach residents who cannot easily explain what they want. Look at whether people are occupied in ways that suit them, whether staff crouch to eye level and whether anyone is left calling out unanswered. Ask about staff turnover, because consistency of faces matters enormously to someone who struggles to retain new ones. If you can, come back a second time at a different hour before deciding.

Frequently asked questions about dementia care homes in Leamington Spa

How many dementia care homes are there in Leamington Spa?

Leamington Spa has 9 CQC registered care homes that are registered for dementia care, out of 15 CQC registered care homes in Leamington Spa: 7 Good, 2 Requires improvement. Counts come from the CQC register and are kept up to date as ratings change.

Which dementia care homes in Leamington Spa were inspected most recently?

Arden House (26 February 2026), Jubilee House Care Home (28 August 2024) and Homewood (5 July 2023) have the most recent CQC reports.

How do I arrange a care needs assessment in Leamington Spa?

Contact the adult social care team at Warwickshire County Council and ask for a care needs assessment for yourself or, with their agreement, for a relative. It is free of charge and not means tested, so it is worth having even where the family expects to fund care privately. With dementia it helps to prepare for the visit by noting examples of where the day goes wrong, since assessments can otherwise capture a good hour rather than a typical one. The written plan that follows is what homes rely on when they judge whether they can meet the need.

Can Warwickshire County Council fund a dementia care home placement?

It can, where the needs assessment finds that residential care is necessary and a financial assessment puts capital below the national thresholds. The council then pays towards the weekly fee at its own rate while the resident contributes from pension and other income. Above the thresholds the placement is self funded, although the council retains a duty to advise and can arrange the placement if asked. Where the chosen home charges more than the council will pay, a third party contribution has to cover the gap, and with dementia that commitment may need to last several years.

Which providers offer dementia care in Leamington Spa?

Nine registered residential care homes match this search and all of them appear in the listing above with their current rating. Seven are rated Good and two sit at Requires Improvement, so there is no provider here without a published inspection history. The list comes from Care Quality Commission registration records, which means these homes are formally registered to provide this type of care. Each profile links through to the inspection report, and that report is the place to check how well dementia care specifically was judged.

What is the difference between a dementia care home and a dementia nursing home?

Both support people living with dementia, but only a nursing home is registered to provide clinical nursing on the premises, with a registered nurse on duty at every hour. A residential care home provides accommodation and personal care and brings in community nursing for occasional clinical tasks. The distinction becomes important in later stage dementia, where swallowing difficulties, pressure care or unstable health conditions can tip someone into needing nursing support. Every provider matching this search is a residential care home, so ask during the assessment how far along the path the current needs sit.

How far in advance should the search begin?

Earlier than most families imagine, because dementia tends to progress in steps rather than smoothly and a quiet period can end abruptly. Starting a few months before anyone expects a move leaves room for the assessment, the funding decision and repeat visits to a shortlist. Where a hospital admission or a crisis at home forces the pace, the social work team will help find a placement quickly and a move to a preferred home can follow later. Even an unhurried afternoon spent reading reports now makes an urgent decision later far less daunting.

What should I ask when visiting a dementia care home in Leamington Spa?

Ask how many staff hold dementia specific training, how long the team has been together and how much agency cover the home uses. Ask what happens when a resident becomes distressed, wants to go home or will not eat, and judge whether the answer shows curiosity about the cause. Request to see how care plans record the person's history and preferences, since that is where good dementia care shows itself. Finish by asking what the last inspection said about responsive care and what the home has changed as a result.
