    • Care Home

Weavers Care Home is a residential care home in Coventry. The people living here include older people, many of them living with dementia, along with younger adults, people with a physical disability, people with sight or hearing loss and people managing mental health conditions. Respite stays are available. Because our residents need quite different things from us, support is planned with each person rather than run to a single pattern. People keep their own rooms, their own belongings and their own routines, and they decide how much of the day to spend in company and how much on their own. We ask about the small preferences in detail and expect our staff to follow them, since those details are most of what makes a place feel like home. For residents living with dementia, consistency helps more than anything. Familiar staff, routines that change only when there is a reason, and the patience to understand what somebody means when words have become unreliable. Where people have sight or hearing loss we take particular care over how we communicate, so that nobody is left out of what is going on around them. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We take it as evidence that the everyday work is being done properly and we keep looking at the detail. If you are considering a care home in Coventry for someone close to you, you are welcome to visit, meet our staff and residents and ask us anything you like.

    • Care Home

The Willows is a residential care home in Coventry providing a home for older people, for younger adults, and for people living with dementia. We offer permanent places and shorter respite stays. We should be straightforward about our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission, which is requires improvement. We would rather raise it ourselves than have you come across it elsewhere. We know which areas were identified and there is a clear programme of work in hand, with changes already made to staff supervision and training, to how care is recorded, and to how families are involved in decisions. Please ask us about it directly when you visit. The ordinary work of the home continues as it should: careful help with washing and dressing, meals cooked here, attention to nutrition, skin and mobility, safe management of medication, and time spent with people rather than only on tasks. For those living with dementia we keep the routine steady and the faces familiar, because that is what genuinely settles a day. Families are welcome whenever they want to come, and we would always rather hear a concern early than late. Please come and see us and ask whatever you need to ask.

    • Care Home

We at Allambie House are proud to offer a welcoming residential care home in the heart of Coventry, where compassionate support and a true sense of community come together to create a place residents are happy to call home. Set within the CV postcode area of Coventry, our home sits comfortably within the wider West Midlands community, offering residents the reassurance of familiar surroundings whilst remaining well connected for visiting family and friends. The setting has been thoughtfully arranged to provide a calm, homely atmosphere where residents can enjoy their daily routines in comfort, with shared spaces that encourage gentle socialising and quieter areas for those who prefer peaceful reflection. Our care is shaped around the individual, and we specialise in supporting older people through residential care tailored to their personal needs. For those living with dementia, we provide patient, person centred support that focuses on dignity, familiarity and reassurance, helping residents feel safe and understood during every part of their day. We also welcome adults with learning disabilities or autism, offering a structured yet flexible environment where each person is encouraged to live as independently as possible whilst knowing support is always close at hand. In addition, we offer care for adults living with mental health needs, providing a stable and understanding environment where emotional wellbeing is nurtured alongside physical health. Residents with physical disabilities benefit from a setting designed to support mobility and comfort, and we are equally experienced in supporting those with visual or hearing impairments, taking time to adapt our communication and daily routines so that every resident feels included and respected. In practice, this breadth of specialism means families can feel confident that their loved one will be cared for by a team accustomed to a wide range of needs, with an approach that values each resident as an individual rather than a diagnosis. Our most recent CQC inspection, carried out on 25 November 2025, awarded Allambie House an overall rating of Requires Improvement. We are rated Good in the areas of Effective, Caring and Responsive, which reflects the warmth of our team, the quality of the support we deliver and our commitment to listening to residents and their loved ones. The areas identified as Requires Improvement, namely Safe and Well led, are ones we are taking seriously, and we are working steadily and openly to strengthen these aspects of our home so that every resident receives the consistently high standard of care they deserve. We believe in being transparent about where we are on this journey, and we welcome honest conversations with families who want to understand more. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the care, thought and emotion that goes into it. If you are exploring options for a loved one in Coventry or the surrounding West Midlands, we would be delighted to hear from you, answer your questions and arrange a visit so you can experience the atmosphere of Allambie House for yourself. Whatever stage you are at in your search, please know that a warm welcome, a listening ear and honest guidance are always waiting for you here.

    • Care Home

Holyhead Care Centre is a residential care home in Coventry. We support older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia and people who live with mental health conditions, and we take respite bookings for those who need care for a shorter spell. Running a home for such a mixed group means paying close attention to the individual. A younger resident recovering their confidence after a difficult period wants a very different week from an older resident living with advanced dementia. We spend time at the outset learning what each person wants their days to look like, and we plan their care from that starting point rather than fitting everybody into one pattern. Day to day we help with washing, dressing, medication, meals, mobility and continence at whatever level is required, and we work closely with GPs, district nurses and community mental health teams so that people get specialist input promptly. We watch mood and engagement as carefully as we watch physical health, because low spirits and boredom cause real harm. Coventry is a diverse city and our residents come from many backgrounds. We take trouble over food, faith, language and the customs that matter to each person, and we ask rather than assume. Families and friends are welcome here and we encourage them to stay closely involved and to tell us honestly how they think things are going. If you would like to look round, please contact us and arrange a time that suits you.

    • Care Home

We are a small residential home on Ellys Road in Coventry, supporting adults with a learning disability or autism alongside older people, including people living with dementia. We also offer respite stays where a short break is what is needed rather than a permanent move. Supporting people whose needs differ this much in one house takes thought, and we plan carefully so that everybody living here has what they need rather than a compromise between them. For some of the people here what is wanted is largely practical, help with personal care, medication, meals and getting about. For others it is a day that runs to a shape they can rely on, notice before anything changes, and staff who understand that a particular routine is what holds the day together. People with a learning disability are living longer than they once did, and some of the people we support are growing older here. That brings its own changes, and we would rather meet them in a place somebody knows well than move them somewhere new at the hardest possible moment. Where somebody can do something for themselves, even slowly, we would far rather they did. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are a family member or a professional considering a placement or a short break, please get in touch and we will talk it through openly with you.

    • Care Home

Amber House in Coventry is a residential care home supporting older people who need help with daily living, adults with a learning disability or autism, and younger adults. We care for residents living with dementia and we offer respite stays for people who need support for a shorter period. Our starting point is that the people who live here are adults with their own preferences and their own way of doing things. Residents choose when to get up, how to spend their days and what they eat, and we build support around that rather than expecting everyone to fall in with a routine. For those with a learning disability or autism we adapt how we communicate to suit the person, and we pay close attention to what helps someone feel settled. We have to be open with you about our most recent inspection. The Care Quality Commission rated us requires improvement overall. We did not contest the findings. We took them seriously, put an improvement plan in place and are working steadily through it with closer checks on the areas identified. We would far rather you heard this from us and came to see what has changed. We keep in close contact with GPs and community teams, and we keep families and advocates properly involved. Visitors are welcome at any reasonable time. Please get in touch if you would like to visit and ask us anything you want to know.

    • Care Home

We at Earlsdon Lodge Care Home offer residential care in a welcoming community setting in Coventry, providing a supportive home for older people and adults with a range of needs across the West Midlands. Our residential care home is designed to feel familiar and comforting, whilst delivering the specialised support each resident deserves. Nestled within the CV postcode area of Coventry, our home benefits from its position within a well connected local community. Residents can enjoy the reassurance of being close to familiar surroundings, allowing family and friends to visit easily and remain a central part of daily life. The setting has been thoughtfully arranged to encourage both social connection and quiet reflection, giving each person the freedom to spend their day in a way that suits them. Our care programme is shaped around the individual. We support older people living with the natural challenges of later life, as well as younger adults who benefit from a residential setting tailored to their needs. For those living with dementia, our approach focuses on gentle routines, familiar faces, and an environment designed to reduce confusion and promote a sense of calm. We also welcome residents with mental health needs, offering compassionate support that respects each person's journey and encourages wellbeing at their own pace. For residents with visual or hearing impairment, we take practical steps to ensure the home remains accessible, communication is clear, and daily life is enjoyable. Our respite care option provides shorter stays for families who need a trusted place for their loved one, whether following a hospital stay, during a family holiday, or simply to allow a regular carer time to rest. In practice, this means families can plan ahead with confidence, knowing their relative will be looked after with warmth and attentiveness. We believe openness matters, particularly when families are making one of the most important decisions of their lives. Our most recent CQC inspection, carried out in January 2023, resulted in an overall rating of Requires Improvement, with a rating of Inadequate in the Well led domain. We recognise these findings and take them seriously. They form part of an ongoing commitment to listen, learn, and strengthen every aspect of the care we provide. We are dedicated to working closely with residents, families, and regulators to make meaningful improvements, and we welcome honest conversations about the steps being taken. Choosing a care home is deeply personal, and we understand the questions and emotions that come with it. If you are exploring options for a loved one in Coventry or the wider West Midlands, we warmly invite you to get in touch, visit us, and see for yourself the community we are building. Our door is open, and we are here to answer your questions with honesty, patience, and genuine care.

    • Care Home

Here at Victoria Park in Coventry, we provide residential care for older people in a warm and homely environment where everyone is treated as an individual. We are proud to have received a "good" rating from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the genuine effort our whole team puts into making this a place where people feel safe, comfortable and valued. We specialise in older person care, residential care, dementia care and respite care, meaning we are well placed to support a range of needs under one roof. Whether someone moves in with us on a permanent basis or comes to stay for a short respite break, we aim to ensure their time here feels relaxed and unhurried. For those living with dementia, we take care to create a calm and familiar atmosphere, built around routines and approaches that help reduce anxiety and promote wellbeing. Respite care is something we take just as seriously as long term support. We understand that families sometimes need a little breathing space, and we want both residents and their loved ones to feel entirely confident leaving care in our hands, even if only for a few weeks. What matters most to us is getting to know the people who live here. Everyone has a life story, preferences, habits and ways they like their day to go, and we do our best to honour that. Our team gets to know residents properly, not just their care needs but who they are as people. Families are always welcome here, and we encourage open conversations about care so that everyone feels involved. If you would like to find out more about Victoria Park or come and have a look around, we would be very happy to hear from you.

Charnwood House is a residential care home in Coventry providing care for older people, including people living with dementia, along with shorter respite stays. We try to keep the home domestic rather than institutional. People get up when they wake, eat what they like, and pass the day as they choose. Some are in company from breakfast onwards and some would far rather have their own room with the door propped open, and neither preference draws any comment from us. The care covers help with washing and dressing, prompting and administering medication, meals cooked on the premises, support with mobility, and somebody always about when a person needs them. For those living with dementia we keep the routine steady and the staff familiar, and we arrange the house so that it is easy to understand and move around in. We take the view that behaviour is almost always communication, and the question worth asking is what somebody is trying to tell us. Families are welcome whenever they wish to come, and we would much rather hear a worry early than have it go unsaid. Our most recent rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, and you are welcome to visit.

Godiva Lodge is a residential care home in Coventry. We provide care for older people, including those living with dementia, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. We keep things straightforward. People usually come to us because managing at home had become hard work, and what they want back is some ease. Meals they do not have to plan or cook. Help when washing and dressing has become a struggle. Somebody who notices when they are not themselves. Company when they want it and quiet when they do not. Residents carry on running their own lives as far as they are able, choosing their routines, arranging their rooms and deciding how much of the day to spend downstairs. We ask people to bring their own furniture and pictures, because a room that looks like yours makes settling in far easier. Dementia care here is built on consistency rather than anything elaborate. Familiar staff, a steady rhythm to the day, and knowing something about a person's earlier life. Families usually supply the details that explain everything, and we ask for them early. When somebody is unsettled, we look for the reason rather than simply calming the moment. Family and friends are welcome at sensible hours and are part of the household rather than visitors to be managed. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Cordelia Court is a residential care home in Coventry. We care for older people who need support with daily living, including those living with dementia and those whose sight or hearing is impaired, and we also support some younger adults. Our care is the practical daily kind: help to wash and dress, medication given properly, meals cooked here, support to move about safely and staff available through the night. Around that, residents arrange their own time as they wish, and we try not to organise people's lives on their behalf. For residents living with dementia we keep the rhythm of the day predictable and the staff around them consistent, and we ask families to tell us about working lives, music, habits and the subjects that will always get a response. Where sight or hearing is impaired we keep belongings exactly where they are expected, approach people so as not to startle them and check we have actually been understood. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places, which can give a family carer a genuine break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. • Care Home

Herald Lodge is a residential care home in Coventry, caring for older people, including many living with dementia. Dementia care rewards attention to small things. Knowing that somebody takes their tea strong, that another person wants the curtains open before anything else happens, that a particular song settles a difficult hour. None of that is dramatic and all of it is what makes a day go well. We write these things down, we pass them between shifts, and we keep asking families to tell us more, because they have known the person far longer than we have. We work with the reality a person is in rather than correcting it repeatedly. Somebody who is looking for a parent who died decades ago is usually not asking a factual question, and answering as though they were is rarely kind or effective. What helps is knowing enough about their life to understand what the worry is really about. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places, whether for a short period of care or to give a family carer a planned break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Visitors are welcome.

    • Care Home

Victoria Manor is a residential care home in Coventry. We are home to older people, including many living with dementia, and we support younger adults too. Respite stays are part of what we do. We keep our attention on the hours a visitor never sees: early mornings, when people need time rather than efficiency, and late evenings when the place goes quiet and somebody who cannot sleep wants company rather than to be settled. Dementia care here rests on knowing the person. We ask relatives early for the working life, the places, the music and the names, because that information is harder to gather later and it is what still connects when a good deal else has gone. Coventry is mixed in language, faith and food, and we build the household around that rather than accommodating it at the edges. Being spoken to in your own language is not a small comfort when much else has changed. Having younger residents as well as older ones means we ask people individually what a good day looks like rather than running a single programme. The Care Quality Commission rates us good overall. Relatives who visit often notice what we have stopped seeing, and we would rather they said so plainly.

We at Eric Williams House are proud to offer compassionate residential care in the heart of Coventry, providing a welcoming home where older people can feel safe, valued, and truly cared for. Nestled within the CV postcode area of the West Midlands, our care home has been thoughtfully designed to support residents with a wide range of needs, from everyday residential support through to more specialised care. Our setting offers a comfortable and homely environment where residents can enjoy familiar routines whilst receiving the attentive support they need. Being based in Coventry means residents remain close to the community they know, making it easier for family and friends to visit regularly and for loved ones to stay connected to the area they call home. The local surroundings provide a reassuring sense of place, and our home has been arranged with the comfort and dignity of every resident firmly in mind. The care we provide is broad and considered, reflecting the reality that no two residents are the same. We specialise in older person care and residential care, offering a stable and nurturing base for those who may no longer feel able to manage independently at home. For residents living with dementia, we offer patient, person centred support that focuses on preserving identity, encouraging familiar routines, and gently guiding each individual through their day with kindness. Our experience in mental health support means we can accompany residents facing emotional and psychological challenges with understanding and consistency, whilst our support for those with physical disabilities ensures that mobility needs and personal care are met with sensitivity and respect. We also welcome residents with visual or hearing impairments, adapting our communication and daily support so that everyone feels included, informed, and confident within our home. For families who need short term reassurance, our respite care offers a safe and comfortable stay, whether following a hospital discharge, during a family holiday, or simply to give a loved one and their carer a well earned break. In practice, this breadth of specialism means families do not have to worry about care needs changing over time. Our team is equipped to walk alongside residents as their circumstances evolve, offering continuity at a stage of life when familiarity matters most. Our commitment to quality is reflected in our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission, where Eric Williams House was rated Good across every domain assessed. This includes Good ratings for being safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well led. For families, this consistent recognition offers meaningful reassurance. It reflects a home where residents are protected and supported, where care is delivered thoughtfully and with clear outcomes in mind, where staff show genuine warmth, where the home responds to individual needs, and where strong leadership guides the culture of care every day. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the weight of that responsibility. If you are exploring residential care options in Coventry for yourself or a loved one, we warmly invite you to learn more about Eric Williams House. Our door is open, our team is ready to listen, and our aim is always the same: to offer a home where every resident feels respected, supported, and truly at ease.

    • Care Home

The Spinney is a residential care home in Coventry. We support older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia and people with mental health needs, and we offer respite stays. Our everyday work is the ordinary business of a household run well. Help with washing, dressing and moving about at the person's own pace and as privately as possible. Medication managed properly. Meals cooked here with real choice. Rooms that people make their own with their own furniture and pictures. Company when it is wanted and quiet when it is not. We should be open about where we stand. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us requires improvement overall. We did not dispute the findings. Since then we have strengthened staffing and supervision, tightened how we manage medicines and the records we keep, and had senior staff check the care actually being given rather than the care described on paper. That work continues and we are not going to claim it is finished. We would far rather raise this ourselves and answer questions honestly than leave a family to discover it later, and we are happy to go through the detail with anyone who asks. With dementia we lean on knowing somebody well and keeping the day predictable. Anyone considering the home is welcome to visit, see how things are now, and talk to the people who live here.

Eden House is a residential care home in Coventry for older people, including those living with dementia, residents with a physical disability and people living with sight or hearing loss. We also support some younger adults whose needs suit a home of this kind. We help with washing and dressing, medication, meals and whatever else has become difficult, and we leave people in charge of the rest. Residents decide when they get up and go to bed, where they spend the day, what they eat and whether they want company or a quiet afternoon on their own. For residents living with dementia we keep the house familiar and the staff consistent, explain what is happening as we go and take time to work out what lies behind a change in mood rather than treating it as a symptom. Where somebody has a physical disability the right equipment is in place and staff are trained to help with moving safely and comfortably. For residents with sight or hearing loss we adapt how we communicate and do not move things without saying so. Meals are cooked here and we ask people what they actually want to eat. Visitors are welcome at any reasonable time. Respite stays are available for family carers needing a break or for somebody regaining strength after illness. Please ring us if you would like to come and look round properly.

    • Care Home

Here at Victoria Mews, we are proud to offer a warm and welcoming home for the people who live with us in the heart of Coventry. We understand that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we take that responsibility seriously. We support older people, those living with dementia, younger adults, and individuals who need a shorter period of respite care. Whatever brings someone to us, we aim to make sure they feel at home from the moment they arrive. Each person is an individual with their own story, preferences and routines, and we work hard to make sure those things are respected every single day. Our approach to dementia care is thoughtful and person centred. We recognise that living with dementia affects not just the individual but their whole family, and we try to keep communication open and honest so that everyone feels involved and informed. For those joining us on a respite basis, perhaps while a family carer takes a break or while someone recovers from an illness, we offer the same level of attention and warmth as we do for those who live with us permanently. A short stay should still feel settled and comfortable. We are pleased that our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission resulted in a rating of Good, which reflects the commitment of our whole team to getting things right for the people in our care. We do not take that lightly, and we are always looking at how we can continue to improve. If you would like to find out more about life at Victoria Mews or come and have a look around, we would be very happy to hear from you. We believe the best way to get a feel for a care home is simply to visit.

    • Care Home

Here at Trinity Lodge, we are proud to call Coventry our home and to play a meaningful role in the lives of the people we support and their families. We offer residential care, dementia care, respite care and older person care, so whether someone is looking for a permanent place to live or a short break for a loved one, we are well placed to help. We know that moving into a care home is a significant moment, and we do not take that lightly. From the very first conversation, we try to make the process feel as straightforward and as calm as possible. Getting to know each resident properly matters to us, because care that fits around a person's own routines, preferences and history is simply better care. We take time to understand what makes life feel good for each individual, and we build on that every day. Our team works hard to create an atmosphere that feels genuinely homely rather than clinical. We want residents to feel comfortable, respected and at ease, whether they are joining us for a few weeks of respite or settling in for the longer term. Family members are always welcome, and we encourage them to stay involved in ways that feel right for everyone. For those living with dementia, we understand how important consistency, familiarity and a calm environment can be. Our approach is thoughtful and person centred, and we continually look at how we can do things better for the people in our care. We are pleased that our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us as good, and we see that as an encouragement to keep improving rather than a reason to stand still. If you would like to find out more or come in for a visit, we would love to hear from you.

Hawthorne House in Coventry provides both nursing and residential care. Having qualified nurses on the team alongside our care staff means we can look after people whose health needs go beyond a residential setting, and that residents need not move on each time those needs change. We care for older adults, managing medication, nutrition, skin care, pain and comfort while helping with washing, dressing, meals and moving about. Dementia care is a significant part of our work and rests on familiar faces, a settled routine and taking the time to learn what reassures each individual. We support residents living with mental health conditions, where a calm environment and early attention to changes matter greatly, and residents with physical disabilities or a visual or hearing impairment, adapting how we communicate and how we assist. We also care for younger adults. Respite stays are available for families needing a planned break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather put that in front of you ourselves than let you find it later. The areas identified are where our effort is concentrated at present, and we are glad to discuss them with any family considering the home.

Youell Court is a residential care home in Coventry providing care for older people, including people living with dementia, along with shorter respite stays. We try to keep the home domestic rather than institutional. People get up when they wake, eat what they like, and pass the day as they choose. Some are in company from breakfast onwards and some would far rather have their own room and the door left open, and neither preference draws any comment from us. The care covers help with washing and dressing, prompting and administering medication, meals cooked on the premises, support with mobility, and somebody always about when a person needs them. For those living with dementia we keep the routine steady and the staff familiar, and we arrange the house so that it is easy to understand and move around in. We take the view that behaviour is almost always communication. Families are welcome whenever they wish to come, and we would much rather hear a worry early than have it go unsaid. Our most recent rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, and you are welcome to visit.

Clarendon House is a residential care home in Coventry. We are home to older people, including many living with dementia, and we support younger adults too. We also offer respite stays for families needing a planned break. Most of what makes a care home good happens quietly and every day. Food people actually want to eat. Being helped to the bathroom without waiting. Laundry that comes back. Knowing the name of whoever is on this evening. Somebody noticing that you have been quieter than usual for a few days. We put our effort there rather than into anything that reads well at a distance. For residents living with dementia we protect the routine and keep the surroundings familiar, and we ask families for the working life, the places, the music and the names. Those are what still connect when a great deal else has gone, and none of them can be learned from a form. Coventry is diverse in language, faith and food, and we treat that as something to build around rather than accommodate at the edges. The Care Quality Commission rates us good overall. Relatives are welcome unannounced, which is the only visit that shows you anything real.

Aspect House provides residential care in Coventry for older people and younger adults. We support people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autism, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people who have sight or hearing loss, and we also support people whose lives have been affected by alcohol or drug misuse. Planned respite stays are available as well as longer term places. We treat this as a home first and a care setting second. The people living here have their own rooms, their own routines and a genuine say in how the place runs, and our staff fit around them rather than running everybody to one timetable. Support covers personal care, medicines, meals, money and the practical work of a household, and we stand back wherever somebody can manage without us. The detail is where most of the real work lies. How a person communicates, what makes an environment feel manageable, how much warning they need before something changes, and which parts of the day they want to handle alone are all things we learn from the person rather than assume. For people recovering from alcohol or drug misuse, and for people with mental health needs, consistency and an absence of judgement count for a great deal. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please visit and talk to the people who live here.

As a dedicated residential care home in the CV postcode area of the West Midlands, we provide a supportive setting where every resident is known, valued and cared for as an individual. Our home has been thoughtfully arranged to feel just that, a home. Communal lounges offer space for conversation, quiet reflection or shared activities, whilst private bedrooms provide a peaceful retreat where residents can bring their own belongings and truly settle in. Our specialisms reflect the varied needs of the people we support. We provide residential care for older people who benefit from a helping hand with daily living, alongside specialist dementia care delivered with patience, understanding and a genuine commitment to preserving each person's sense of self. For younger adults, we offer tailored support that recognises their individual goals, interests and aspirations, ensuring that care never feels one size fits all. Our respite care option is a lifeline for families, providing trusted short term stays that give loved ones a safe, welcoming place to be whilst regular carers take a well earned break. In practice, this means our team takes the time to learn what matters to each resident. From favourite meals and morning routines to cherished memories and meaningful activities, we build care around the person, not the other way around. Families are welcomed as partners in that journey, kept informed, listened to and reassured that their loved one is in capable, compassionate hands. The Knowles is rated Good by the Care Quality Commission following its most recent inspection in October 2025, with Good ratings awarded across all five domains: safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led. For families, this consistent recognition offers meaningful reassurance that the care provided here meets the standards you would expect for someone you love, delivered by a team committed to continual improvement. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the weight of that choice. Longest since a CQC report

Arranging and funding a dementia care home place in Coventry

Twenty six registered homes is a workable shortlist on paper and an overwhelming one in practice. Narrowing it down goes faster if you decide first what good dementia care looks like for the person involved, and then test each home against that rather than against a brochure.

Staff who know the person, not just the condition

Continuity of staffing does more for someone with dementia than any single facility. Ask how many permanent staff work on the unit, how often agency cover is used, and whether the same faces appear at the same times each day. Ask what dementia training staff receive beyond induction, and who leads on it. A home that can answer those questions precisely is usually a home that has thought about them.

How distress and walking are handled

Ask what happens when a resident becomes distressed, agitated or wants to leave, and listen for whether the answer is about understanding the cause or about containing the behaviour. Ask how the home supports someone who walks about a great deal, and whether they can do so safely without being followed or redirected constantly. Ask about the approach to medication for agitation, and how often it is reviewed.

Reading the inspection evidence

Eighteen of these homes hold a Good rating, among them Victoria Mews, Clarendon House, Trinity Lodge, Cordelia Court and Godiva Lodge. Eight have been told they Require Improvement, and that judgement is worth reading rather than simply avoiding, because the reasons vary enormously. A home pulled up on record keeping sits in a different position from one where inspectors raised concerns about how residents were spoken to. The report tells you which it was, and whether the provider has since acted.

Choosing between dementia care homes in Coventry

Once a shortlist exists, the practical questions take over: who assesses the need, who pays, and how long each step takes.

Requesting an assessment of needs

Anyone who appears to need care and support is entitled to an assessment, and asking for one costs nothing and does not commit you to anything. The assessment considers what help is needed daily, what happens without it, and what family carers are currently absorbing. A carer can request a separate assessment of their own needs at the same time. Contact Coventry City Council Adult Social Care to begin, as it is the body responsible for assessing need and for arranging funded support where someone is eligible.

Who pays, and how that is decided

Eligibility for funded care follows a financial assessment of income and capital, carried out separately from the needs assessment. Some families pay privately throughout, others receive a council contribution, and others take a personal budget and arrange the placement themselves. Where nursing or specialist health needs are substantial, it is worth asking whether an assessment for continuing healthcare funding is appropriate, as that is decided through the health service rather than the council.

Understanding what the fee covers

Weekly fees differ between these homes, and a quoted figure is only useful once you know what sits inside it. Ask whether it includes transport, chiropody, hairdressing, outings and any additional one to one support, and what triggers a change in fee if needs increase. Ask also how much notice is given of an annual increase, and request the fee schedule in writing before anything is agreed.

How many dementia care homes are there in Coventry?

Which homes in Coventry provide dementia care?

Twenty six providers match a search for dementia care homes in Coventry, and all of them are registered as residential care homes. Those listed on this page include Victoria Mews, The Knowles, Clarendon House, Holyhead Care Centre, Herald Lodge and Weavers Care Home among others. Registration confirms a home is able to provide this type of care, though whether it has a suitable vacancy is a separate question that changes constantly. Open the profiles that interest you and check current availability with the home itself.

Is there a difference between a dementia care home and a dementia nursing home?

A residential dementia care home provides accommodation, meals and personal care, with staff supporting washing, dressing, mobility, medicines and daily routine. A dementia nursing home also has registered nurses on duty at all times, which becomes necessary where there are clinical needs such as wound care, feeding tubes or complex health conditions alongside the dementia. Every provider listed here is registered as a residential care home rather than a nursing home. If nursing care is likely to be needed soon, raise it during the assessment so the right category of home is considered from the start.

What should I ask when I visit?

Ask how many permanent staff are on the unit at the time you are visiting and how often agency staff are used. Ask what dementia specific training the team has had, and how the home responds when someone is distressed or wants to leave. Ask to see a bedroom, watch a mealtime if you can, and notice whether staff address residents by name and without hurry. Finally ask how families are kept informed and how care plans are reviewed when someone's needs change.

How do I arrange a care needs assessment in Coventry?

Contact the adult social care team at Coventry City Council and request an assessment of needs for the person concerned. There is no charge for the assessment and it is not dependent on income or on whether you expect to fund the placement privately. A practitioner will discuss what support is needed and what the risks are if it is not provided, and you can ask for a carer assessment alongside it. Say clearly if the situation is deteriorating quickly, because urgency affects how the request is handled.

Could Coventry City Council fund a placement?

It can, where the needs assessment identifies eligible needs and the financial assessment shows the person qualifies for support. Coventry City Council makes both of those determinations, and the level of contribution reflects income and capital rather than the home you would prefer. Support can take the form of an arranged placement or a personal budget you use to commission care yourself. Where someone sits above the financial thresholds the placement is privately funded, so it helps to establish which applies before visiting homes.

How soon should we start looking?

Begin earlier than feels necessary, because suitable dementia vacancies in a preferred home are rarely available immediately. Allowing a few months gives time for the needs assessment, the financial assessment and several visits without deciding under pressure. Where a hospital discharge is driving the timetable, tell the ward and the social care team at once so planning runs in parallel. Even if a move is some way off, visiting homes early makes a later decision considerably easier.
